If Mike Huckabee wins the Iowa caucus, that will be the best reason ever for ending the practice of Iowa being the first state in the nation to weigh in on the presidential selection process. Iowa Republicans will have proved they can’t be trusted with such enormous responsibility. In the immortal words of Stone Cold Steve Austin, “And that’s the bottom line.”

A-M-E-N!
I told my best friend today, anyone who votes for Huckabee is an uninformed voter - PERIOD!
Iowa seeks theocratic leaders to govern them, thus their selection of governor, and thier belief in Huckabee’s candidacy for president.
Martina and Mr. Muth, for whom would you vote if you were an Iowan?
Uninformed may be harsh. But I think it is fair to say Huckabee voters are not true conservatives.
Conservatism isn’t soft on immigration. Conservatism does not promote an ever-expanding nanny-statism. Conservatism is not weak on our national defense. Conservatism respects the 10th amendment and state’s rights. Conservatism seeks lower taxes AND lower spending. Conservatism does not believe the expansion of the welfare state is compassionate - to the contrary, the manner in which it creates dependency and disincentivizes productive behavior is a grave disservice to those on the receiving end.
Almost all of the candidates in the Republican primary this year fall short of conservative ideals, in one area or another.
Except for one, and that man is Fred Thompson. (Well, OK, maybe two - but Duncan Hunter just isn’t doing it for me….)
Whether he can prevail against the media bias and style over substance that rules the campaign trail is yet to be seen. But that does not make his message any less valid, and true conservatives “settle” for another candidate in the primaries and caucuses at their own peril.
