It’s Just the Times’ Nature

As the old fable goes, a scorpion wanted to cross the river. But he couldn’t swim. So he asked the frog if he would carry him across the river. The frog objected, telling the scorpion he was afraid that if he let the scorpion on his back, the scorpion would sting him and kill him.

The scorpion assured the frog that if the frog would just carry him across the river, he’d be so grateful that he wouldn’t sting him. The frog relented and agreed. But halfway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog.

“You idiot!” yelled the frog. “You said you wouldn’t sting me. Now we’re both going to die!”

“I couldn’t help it,” replied the scorpion. “It’s in my nature.”

I couldn’t help but recall that wise, old fable today when hearing that the uber-liberal New York Times - which endorsed John McCain for the Republican presidential nomination just a couple weeks ago - published an unsubstantiated, front-page story in today’s edition accusing the GOP nominee of having an improper relationship with a female lobbyist eight years ago.

Anyone who didn’t see this coming a mile away is stuck on stupid.

One Response to “It’s Just the Times’ Nature”

  1. Even in the unlikely event the story were true, eight years, statute of limitations, YAWN.

There are plenty of reasons to despise McPain, the NYT’s trying to “Arnold” him is not one of them.
