Heller Calls Pelosi’s Bluff

According to a congressional resolution offered by our own Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nevada), then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Mars) said on April 18, 2006, “Democrats have a plan to lower gas taxes.” One week later, the San Francisco treat declared in a written statement that “Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices.”

The following January - the day then-Minority Leader Pelosi was sworn in as House Speaker Pelosi - the average cost of gasoline was around $2.33 per gallon. Now, just over a year later under Democrat control of Congress, a gallon of petro in Nevada is running around $3.50 per gallon, with prices predicted to jump to over four bucks a gallon during the summer.

Congressman Heller’s resolution notes that as of this week we’re STILL waiting to see “the Democrat plan to lower gas prices;” therefore, Heller’s resolution states that “the House of Representatives recommends that within 5 legislative days the Speaker shall introduce in the form of a bill a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gasoline and diesel prices.”

Nice.

One Response to “Heller Calls Pelosi’s Bluff”

  1. There are alot of “whereas”s in that resolution! BUT, the point is correct, “what’s the plan, Nancy?” At best she can only do the McCain bill to drop .18 cents out of a gallon of gas. Diesel is easire and cheaper to manufacter, so why the higher price?

I note that ‘futures’ cost of oil rises almsot everyday as speculators drive the price of oil commodities up, then sell, make a huge profit and pay pennies on the dollar as tax for our asswupin! Same for wheat, rice, corn etcetera.

That’s right, these people drive up the cost of commodities as a way for them to secure capital gains, and we the people get the bill. This isn’t right. Hedge fund manager making $3,700,000,000 a year on our collective backs. Sometimes the ‘free market’ costs someone a lot of pain. Right now, it’s US.
