Unless you read this edition of the newsletter right away, the problem may be fixed by the time you get to it. But I find it interesting that today is April 25th, however, when you go to the governor’s website, they’re still stuck on March.
In fact, the site advises that you can “hover” (hover?) over dates on the March calendar for details of everything that’s going on…last month. VERY helpful.
You can also visit the “March Preview,” where you’re advised to “Check back for upcoming events in March -or- review previous month activities!” VERY helpful.
Or…and this is highlighted as **NEW**…you can “click here” for more information on the “March 18, 2008 Open Government Initiative.” How exactly is something a month old considered “new”? I’m just saying.
Also note that the site copyright is for 2007…which was four MONTHS ago. And that the site was developed, and I’m assuming maintained, by the Department of Internet Technology (DoIT) Web Group…the same folks who might end up being responsible for developing and maintaining a public transparency website of the government’s checkbook. That doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence, does it?
I don’t know who is responsible for keeping the governor’s webpage up to date, but they better get their butt in gear before they get “cornwalled.”
Then again, maybe the website is so out-of-date because the gubernatorial webmaster has ALREADY been “cornwalled.” Yes, that WOULD explain it.
