IS THERE A CONTEST HERE? - The following email is making its way around the ‘net. You may have already seen it. Not sure who the original author is, or I’d give ‘em credit:
“We in Holland cannot figure out why you (Americans) are even bothering to hold an election. On one side, you have a b*tch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer, and a lawyer who is married to a b*tch who is a lawyer. On the other side, you have a true war hero married to a beautiful woman who owns a beer distributorship. Is there a contest here?”
REPUBLICANS WIMPING OUT…AGAIN
The North Carolina Republican Party has produced a 40-second television ad which simply uses authentic footage of Barack Obama’s former minister waxing poetic against America. It’s a hard-hitting, powerful ad which is honest and straight-forward. Take a quick look at it HERE
OK, so what’s wrong with that ad? Plenty according to some namby-pamby Republicans…including the GOP’s nominee for president.
‘’I cannot dictate to the North Carolina Republican Party what their message is,” said John McCain yesterday, “but I condemn it (the ad)…” Piped in Linda Shaw, the state’s Republican National Committeewoman, “I do not support it. I had nothing to do with it…and I’m very disappointed.'’ Shaw has called on the party to pull the ad.
When it comes to the art of political war, it’s been said that Democrats fight with brass knuckles while Republicans curl up in a ball and wet themselves. Sounds about right.
SO “CHANGE” WASN’T SO GOOD, HUH?
“Without the ‘reforms’ enacted by Democrats during the decade following the party’s 1968 fiasco, (Hillary) Clinton might have clinched the nomination by now.”

JUST MAKING IT UP
“Most of us in news are not smart enough to figure out what’s going on. We may pretend that we’re good enough to do that. But in fact, when we look you in the eye, in the camera, we’re really just making it up.”
- MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann
TODAY’S HISTORY LESSON
“In 1982 - in the midst of the Regan Revolution, (then-Rep. Phil) Gramm decided to switch parties and become a Republican. I do believe what he did next was the only time in my adult life someone has done it: He resigned his seat saying, in effect, my constituents elected me as a Democrat. If want to elect me as a Republican, I’ll be back. They did. He was. And the rest is history. It was a truly extraordinary example of political courage for which Gramm has gotten just about zero credit.”

OBAMA REPUBLICANS
“Traveling the country the past few months, I have encountered habitual Republican voters so entranced by Barack Obama’s potential to lead the nation that they plan to vote for him in November. Once Hillary Clinton’s defected supporters return to loyalty, Obama Republicans could produce a Democratic presidential landslide. But Obama’s current missteps jeopardize their support and imperil his election.”

GOV’T IS THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION
“The Federal Family Education Loan Program likes to boast that it’s now the dominant source of college loan funding, making ‘it possible for borrowers with no income, credit history, cosigner or collateral to get student loans at low interest rates.’ Talk about subprime. All this federal money is also a substantial reason for the rapid inflation in tuition costs.”

VOUCHER DEMAND HEATING UP
“Applications for Ohio’s state-funded private school vouchers grew nearly 29 percent for the 2008-09 school year, according to final tallies by the state Education Department. Statewide, 10,245 students applied for the EdChoice scholarships, which pay up to $4,375 for eligible K-8 students and $5,150 for high school students for private school tuition. That’s about triple the applications received in the program’s kickoff year in 2006.”
- The Enquirer (Cincinnati), 4/22/08
SPARE THE ROD
“The issue of spanking has again surfaced in California, where members of the California Assembly’s Public Safety Committee voted 5-2 on Tuesday to advance a bill that would define the use of switches or paddles to be child abuse and subject anyone convicted under the statute to face a possible year in jail.”
- CNS News, 4/18/08
DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS?
“Dozens of mothers from a polygamous retreat were bussed away from their children Thursday, their legal efforts to stay united were rejected as Texas officials sort out the massive custody case. . . . Texas officials were preparing to move the last of more than 400 children to group homes, shelters and residences, some hundreds of miles away, over the next few days.”

IN DEFENSE OF BIG LOVE
“Congressman Chris Cannon (R) expressed some support for radical Mormon polygamists. Cannon said the state should not prosecute polygamists for bigamy solely because they engage in consensual plural marriage. Further, Cannon said anti-polygamy laws were largely analogous to the anti-sodomy laws already declared unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. Here is how Cannon explained it to the Salt Lake Tribune:
“There are ‘lots of women who choose to be in polygamous relationships and who are very articulate about the benefits they get. I don’t think it’s the place of society to prosecute people who choose to cohabitate responsibly and are responsible for their children as opposed to men who are licentious or women who are licentious who are producing children that don’t have place or context or male authority in their lives.’ Cannon said his views also extended to same sex couples — that the relationships should not be criminal, but the relationships do not get government recognition either.”

THE OINK REPORT
The big lie in earmarks is that they represent helpful money sent to local projects from the federal government. The reality is that those earmarks come from local taxpayers who must pay the federal government to not only collect it from them but also to give it back to them. Read more HERE
THE UNION LABEL
The Center For Union Facts, put out a press release jabbing unions in the ribs for their unprincipled finger pointing at the high salaries of corporate heads like CEO¹s, CFO¹s, etc. But, as the CUF points out, union chiefs make the same sort of money and no one is pointing fingers at THEM saying that the bloated salaries of union scammers are too high. Where are the calls for union heads to give back their exorbitant salaries? Read more HERE
Looks like the California city of Vallejo is closer every day to bankruptcy. And one of the chief reasons is the unfunded mandates forced upon it by the unions that contract with the city workers. Get all the gory details HERE

Good thing Herr Reno was not in charge of the actions concerning polygamous retreat, she would have saved the children by incinerating them.
