OK, you all just aren’t going to believe this one. Two nights ago, my least favorite Republican assemblywoman, Francis Allen, was reportedly arrested and spent the night in jail for stabbing her husband of less than two months.
According to the official criminal complaint, Allen “committed the crime of battery constituting domestic violence with use of a deadly weapon” against her husband, Paul Maineri, “with use of a deadly weapon, to wit: a knife, but cutting the said Paul Maineri on the forearm with said knife.”
More details were outlined in the official arrest report. The argument apparently started after the happy couple had guests over the house and the hubby allegedly embarrassed the assemblywoman somehow. The argument heated up after the guests left and moved from the living room to the kitchen where the little missus “took a steak knife from the butcher’s block with her right hand and stabbed him with it in the left forearm.”
At that point the assemblywoman ran to her room and locked the door while hubby “pulled the knife out of his arm and put it on the kitchen floor.” He then went to the bedroom, forced the door open and “asked Allen for help.” She refused and told him to “call his mother.” Maineri then drove himself to Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas where police were called, took his report, and then went back to the couple’s residence to slap the cuffs on “Slasher” Allen.
Allen told detectives that Maineri had stabbed himself. Detectives then re-interviewed Maineri at the hospital. Maineri tried to recant his statement, offering that “he would say that he stabbed himself if it would keep her from getting arrested.” It didn’t.
I’d say the honeymoon is over. As is her political career. Adios and good riddance.
