SAGE Commission Taps First Member

The recently-created Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission announced its first appointment late yesterday afternoon - and it’s a doozy.

“I’m thrilled to announce that the first member to be added to the SAGE Commission will be Assemblywoman Francis Allen,” a jubilant Gov. Jim Gibbons said in a prepared statement. “Recent events have shown that when it comes to cutting to the bone, nobody in this state can hold a candle to Francis.”

“No matter how you slice it,” added SAGE Commission Chairman Bruce James, “Francis Allen is exactly the person you want next to you when taking a stab at paring back government.”

“I’m just tickled to death that the governor has carved out a role for me on this commission,” exclaimed a giggling Allen from her jail cell at the Clark County Detention Center upon hearing the news. “I know Chuck Muth will take a jab at this appointment, but the thrust of the commission’s mission is right up my alley. And if he doesn’t like it, he can just go call his mother!”

Allen’s husband of seven weeks was unavailable for comment, but issued this short statement through a family friend: “I can assure Nevada taxpayers that Francis won’t stab you in the back. The forearm, however, is another thing altogether.”
