“Chancellor Jim Rogers told the Board of Regents Thursday that Gov. Jim Gibbons’ proposed spending cuts for the next two-year budget would require the equivalent of amputations to higher education programs that could never be restored,” reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. What Rogers failed to acknowledge is that in some cases it is absolutely necessary to cut off a limb to save the body. Rogers should just be happy Dr. Kevorkian isn’t the governor’s budget czar.
Rogers also whines that the governor won’t return his phone calls. Gee, I wonder why? Considering the guy called Gibbons stupid during the 2006 campaign and threw a hissy fit earlier this year when the first round of necessary budget cuts were announced - going almost as far as stamping his feet and promising to hold his breath until his face turned blue - is it really any surprise that the governor hasn’t picked up the phone for a friendly little chat?
Grow up, Mr. Rogers. If you think you can do a better job, feel free to run for governor yourself in 2010.
