Elections Have Consequences

“The nervousness over the Democratic hegemony in the Legislative Building already is percolating as some groups fear rollbacks in tort reform and construction defects,” reported Jon Ralston in Flash yesterday.

Well, elections DO have consequences. Unions dumped a ton, and I mean a TON, of money into legislative races for Democrats last year. Indeed, Ralston reports that the Democrats in Nevada raised over $3 million last year while the state GOP took in around $700,000. Where was the business community when it came to supporting pro-business candidates?

Yes, some put up rather generously - but nowhere enough businesses joined the few, the proud, the free-market Marines. Being penny-wise with their campaign contributions last year may prove to be a pound foolish by the time this Legislature finally goes home.

  1. Of course Chuck…why the hell would unions dump money to republicans, when republicans hate unions and workers that make a decent wage…duh. It is the union workers that help out the democrats, as they the dems are pro-labor. It would be like the NRA dumping TONS of money into repub causes…same thing, since dems are anti-gun to some degree.

The repubs can never understand why unions support democrats. If unions supported repubs, they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
