A New Lubricant:May Make Ball-Bearings Unnecessary

February 26th, 2007 at 4:15 pm . by el nuko

I came across this article at Defense Review. As one that has always looked for improved performance with all of my mechanical toys, I have tried nearly all of the newest lubricants for the past twenty five years, for vehicles and guns. Some have been disappointing, some have shown themselves to be effective, but nearly all had some drawbacks.
The problem with most of the lubricants I’ve tried, are the elements added to give them their unique qualities. It is those additives, often heavy metals and different petroleum derivatives, that can cause the products to have diminished performance, over time, as the coating they created would often breakdown.
So, what would you say to a lubricant that contained none of these additives, and in fact even penetrated into the metal pores? Well then, welcome to the world of Nano-Bearings ™. As it states in it’s website:

Imagine 50 millions Nano-Bearings per square millimeters of contact surface on metal to metal all doing their job of substantially reducing friction while keeping equipment cooler. The Nano-Bearings molecules are magnetically induced to adhere to microscopic crevices and actually penetrates metals, providing a very low friction-dynamic contact .

Further:

Ball bearings in certain applications are no longer necessary and actually renders the devices less desirable due to frictions and or vibrations. Bushings with closer tolerances can be used instead when designing with NanoLube by StClaire ™.

The folks over at Defense Review, are so enthusiastic about the applications for this revolutionary product, they will be categorizing in their forums by engineering disciplines, and every day use, for actual problem solvers that have used this new product.
Below is a partial list of some companies that will be using this product in their manufacturing process.

Remington Arms Company — Alexander Arms US Army Arsenal — Smith & Wesson — SpringField Armories — Remington — Ruger — Rogue — Barrett — Leupold — G A Precision — Rogue MCS Corp. — Air Force — Blade Tech. — StreamLight — SureFire — Spyderco — New Zealand Repeating Arms Co. — Luger — etc.

I don’t know about anyone else, but checking into a local distributorship might be a great idea.

Lots of them for sale out there. Too bad they can only use the cash for this M-16 for a temporary gain, though.

It could be.
I want to get my hands on some of this stuff. The most reliable lubricant I have found so far that works best, is this stuff, a mil-spec CLP. But it is a coating, not a penetrant, and will eventually cook-off.
For my semi-autos, I want to try this stuff.

I saw an episode of Future Weapons last week. A fully auto “new tech” assault rifle was being tested by burying it in sand, putting it under water etc. It fired perfectly every time. Could be a connection….

Al Gore: It’s morality, stupid.

February 26th, 2007 at 3:36 pm . by el nuko

the-goracle.jpgLast night’s coronation of The Goracle was truly wonderful theater. It had everything: glitz, glamor, beautiful people, song and dance, and the man of the hour, The Goracle, himself, making the claim that “This [global warming] isn’t a political issue, it’s a Moral Issue.”

To many people, this entire issue appears to be nothing but a political power grab. So, for Gore to try and re-frame global warming as a “moral issue” is interesting. These neo-moralists™ are the very same people who claim that Christians are trying to force morality down their throats to establish a THEOCRACY. Yet, here they are, applauding The Goracle for staking out a claim on the “moral issue” of our lifetime. An issue, that to accept in toto, requires more faith than science.

And, just in case he’s forgotten, since Al Gore was offered the opportunity (in person) to facilitate serious debate on the underlying science of global climate change, 1 year, 1 month, 3 weeks, 1 day, 8 hours, 43 minutes, and 34 seconds have elapsed.

I for one, don’t buy into The Goracle’s version of morality. Forgive me, but I’ve heard all the weasel words before. Furthermore, I am extremely suspicious of anyone who wants to shut down the debate by claiming that the debate is over before it has even truly begun. Especially, since The Goracle himself, declared that his entire premise for global warming hysteria is based on a classic Gore trait – exaggeration.

In the United States of America, unfortunately we still live in a bubble of unreality. And the Category 5 denial is an enormous obstacle to any discussion of solutions. Nobody is interested in solutions if they don’t think there’s a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis. source

I thought about his over-representation of factual presentations as he walked to the stage, the announcer intoning (I paraphrase) “The film crew had to evacuate from New Orleans on the day before Katrina struck. An event which brought home the seriousness of global warming……”

Oh, really?

Daughter called me tonight to tell me that her misguided husband had told her that pudding is supposed to be chilled and eaten cold, if I could imagine that. I told her it was. She said “But….we always ate it warm!” I told her that was because she and her brother would not wait for it to get cold when they were little but wanted it NOW, so hot pudding it was.

Toyota to build assembly plant in Mississippi

February 26th, 2007 at 1:49 pm . by el nuko

4000 employees, plus thousands more new jobs in support businesses. This is welcome news for north Mississippi which has seen the redeployment of thousands of furniture manufacturing jobs since the passage of NAFTA.

Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi plans a major economic development announcement on Tuesday amid reports the state will become home to a Toyota Motor Corp. manufacturing plant.

The Nikkei, a Japanese business newspaper, said on its Web site Monday that Toyota will build an $880 million sports utility vehicle plant in Mississippi, eliminating sites in Arkansas and Tennessee from contention.

Barbour spokesman Pete Smith, asked if the announcement involved Toyota, responded: “We’re not saying anything about it.” Daniel Sieger, spokesman for Toyota’s North American manufacturing division, said there was “nothing to announce at this moment.”

Mississippi Development Authority officials did not immediately return calls for comment.

Nissan Motor Corp. opened an assembly plant north of Jackson in 2003. The 4,000-employee plant produced about 278,000 vehicles last year.

Officials in three northeast Mississippi counties _ Pontotoc, Lee and Union _ have been trying to market a 1,700-acre site as a possible location for an auto manufacturing plant.

The site, nicknamed “Wellspring,” is about 10 miles northwest of Tupelo. It’s next to U.S. 78, a federal highway that’s scheduled to be designated as Interstate 22.

Governor Haley Barbour’s press announcement is set for Tuesday, but nobody is officially confirming it. Trent Lott (the hair-do) is scheduled to be in Tupelo on Tuesday (Imagine that).

Barbour’s Democrat opponent in the upcoming election, John Arthur Eaves, is scheduled to make his official announcement of candidacy tomorrow also. But, with the Toyota announcement, nobody will hear him, nor will anyone care. Barbour just got re-elected. Cha-ching.

Dems redeploy away from Murtha plan

February 25th, 2007 at 6:43 pm . by el nuko

After winning a symbolic victory with a non-binding House resolution, moderate Democrats have decided to redeploy from the Murtha-Pelosi “slow-bleed” strategy which would defund and/or manipulate the Iraqi war effort, as well as possibly endanger the lives of US troops in Iraq.

To many Democrats, that was not only impolitic, it was disloyal.

“He stepped all over Speaker Pelosi’s message of support for the troops,” said Rep. Jim Cooper (Tenn.). “That was not team play, to put it mildly.”

Even after that Web appearance, some senior Democratic aides say Murtha might well have been able to save his plan if he had quickly laid it out before the Democratic caucus and marshaled Democratic leaders behind a defense. Instead, the House recessed for a week, Murtha disappeared from the media, and Democratic leaders were silent, saying they could not discuss Iraq legislation because no real plan existed.

In the face of an unanswered Republican assault, the Democratic rank-and-file cracked — on the left and the right. source

The nutroots can’t be too happy about this. But this doesn’t let the 17 turncoat Republicans who voted for the House resolution, and the eight in the Senate off the hook.

As I watched, much against my will, the summary of the Oscar results (I was trying to get the local weather forecast) I was thinking about how nice it would be if we had a telephone number to call and could vote on whether a particular actor or director or ex-politician that is both would be allowed to stay in the country and, if enough people voted “No”, they’d be arrested by immigration and deported to Canada or other socialist country of their choice that was willing to take them. (Canada’s standards are pretty low, though.)

That would certainly give me an incentive to watch those movie “look at me” awards, but that’s about the only thing that would.

Found this on a link at Tanker Brothers.
The Rise Of The Anti-Jihadists.

If you are infected by the any of the debilitating defeatist diseases of the Left, especially the particularly virulent strains of Multiculturalism, Political Correctness, Tolerance, or Diversity, you will not enjoy your education by the Anti-Jihadists. The inoculation of Truth offered can be a jolt, but worth the initial pain and shock to the ideological mind and body that they may cause to the unprepared. They offer a straight forward, no holds barred, education into such fun topics as the cult of the Hidden Twelfth Imam, Sharia law, Taqiyya and Kitman, Dhimmitude, Dar al-Harb and Dar al-Islam and the three choices Islam offers the Kafir (infidel). We live in a world where all too often bumper sticker slogans, vague conspiracies, Bush bashing, and thirty second sound bites pass as political ideologies and inundate the public debate. The Anti-Jihadists have earned their seat at the table in the discussion and analysis of current events.

He said a mouth-full, and there is more.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome: Salt Lake City

February 25th, 2007 at 1:15 pm . by el nuko
Events surrounding the Salt Lake City mall shooting by a Bosnian Muslim are getting very interesting. While shouting “Allahu Akbar,” on February 12, 2007, 18 year old Sulejman Talovic shot six people to death and wounded several others. [See original article on the shooting here.]

The killer’s father Soljo Talovic, fought in Bosnia as a muhajideen and is a congregant at the Noor mosque which was close the the shopping center where the massacre took place. And so the ‘poor boy’ platitudes begin… He was exposed to warfare in Bosnia as a child. Poor boy. This resulted in trauma. Poor boy……….

Right Truth gives us the “inconvenient truth” about the mall massacre in SLC, a story that the 4th estate has deemed not newsworthy when compared to Anna Nichole’s corpse, Britney’s rehab, or The Goracle’s march to Oscarville. I highly recommend that you read it all.
