I hope so! People a few miles north of my mother were evacuated last night, and she is really worried because my stepfather is pretty much wheelchair bound and can only walk short distances with his walker, and she cannot load the (motorized) wheelchair into the truck by herself. I know the neighbors will be keepin’ an eye on them, too, so I’m not really extremely worried, but in the event they order an evacuation of that area, they won’t let me in to help.

Dang, Swamps.
Wish y’all could catch a break.
We, on the other hand, are looking at the possibility of rain and thunderstorms, Monday-Friday.
We’ve been asking for two years, when will this dry spell end, and our lakes and reservoirs fill back up?
Now, after the slightest shower, the flood gates at every dam are wide open.
Y’all’s turn is coming soon.

I heard on the radio coming home about an overpass being destroyed (melted) when a gasoline tanker truck caught fire on it.

How did Bush, Cheney, and Halliburton manage that?

The orangey gray twilight sky at midday continues with light to moderate ash falling out of the sky like snowflakes.

Sigh. And I had thought that perhaps Bill Richardson was the sane alternative for the dems. I should have known they have no sane alternative. The wussification continues.

There is no War on Terror

April 28th, 2007 at 2:22 pm . by el nuko

I missed the democrat press conference debate Thursday night. And, to read the reviews, it was pretty much a non-event.

So, it came as a surprise to me to learn that there was some significant news that didn’t make the MSM after all. I would have missed it completely had it not been posted over at Free Republic. From Ben Smith’s blog at Politico.com…….

John Edwards doesn’t believe there’s a “global war on terror,” at least not in the simple-show-of-hands sense.

head.jpgThis is something a lot of Democrats say privately — and something mainstream pols everywhere else in the world say publicly — but it contests a Bush administration premise in a way very few American politicians have been comfortable in the last five and a half years.

His stance — though it doesn’t seem to have been all that deliberate — matches the recent comments of a prominent British politician. It’s the most direct challenge to the Bush administration’s whole worldview that I can recall from a leading Democrat.

Edwards aide David Ginsberg confirmed that the former North Carolina senator had not raised his hand in response to Brian Williams’ question,”Do you believe there is such a thing as a global war on terror?”

Now I know why Breck Girl™ needs 400 dollar hair cuts. It’s to get all the poopy out of his hair from having it shoved all the way up his azz.

Hasta Luego…Sandmonkey!

April 28th, 2007 at 8:35 am . by el nuko

The blogosphere has lost a voice of hope and freedom, and possibly one of the finest ranters known.
Friend of the world, and valuable info source for all things Egyptian, Rantings of a Sandmonkey has called it quits.
In his last post, he explains why.

Today is going to be the day that I’ve been dreading for quite sometime now. Today is the day I walk away from this blog. Done. Finished.

Please, for the sake of a good friend in pixel form, drop by and say a word to a brave and irreproachable blogger.

Apparently he fears the Egyptian authorities are on his back…

7/7 mastermind tours Club Gitmo

April 27th, 2007 at 9:41 pm . by el nuko
7/7 ‘mastermind’ is seized in Iraq

The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans.

Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein’s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the “high-value detainee programme” at Guantanamo Bay.

Well hey ho Reid and Pelosi and the Liberal Democrats in the UK - Iraq is the front of the WOT. Why do you not understand?

Excellent News for all those who died, still suffer from 7/7 Islamic slaughter!

I’ve been busy too. Added to that, one of my colleagues husband died suddenly over the weekend, and am having to help out with covering her appointments, until she gets things resolved.
As for Ol’al, hope his cell doesn’t have an ocean view.

I guess ol’al will experience the same fate, as those who have come before him.
In a short time, this mufsidun will see how it feels, when his jail cell size is reduced, and they issue him smaller and smaller overalls.

Our troops are the best.

The demonRats have no desire to understand anything except that money being spent on the war could actually be going in their pockets instead of funding freedom. We know the demonRats are truly communists at heart, therefore freedom is their enemy.

Well now.. she has just moved… so I’m mot sure - I’ll ask when I see him next (and that is increasingly rare!). His girlfiriend is a real anglophile but after staying here for 3 months during which time it only stopped raining for 1 day (I kid you not) she had just about had enough of the UK. Our daylight hours are down to about 6 in the mid winter and with cloud cover it gets dark by 3.30 in the afternoon. Quite depresssing - no wonder we drink to excess. (Though in midsummer it hardly gets dark on a clear night)

So when I find out I’ll let you know. :-)

Having beeen out there several times he has got a lot of friends there (and a lovely Florida lass as a girlfriend).

“This country has seen it’s best days dad. It may sound corny but America has still got hope everywhere and the only thing kids do here is go down the pub and I’m just not into all that.”
