FBI investigates fire at Spokane fuel depot

August 2nd, 2007 at 2:34 am . by nuke

From KLXY….

Could the person who started the Whitley Fuel fire last week have been looking for another target in the Inland Northwest? The FBI is now on the case after two suspicious individuals were spotted at a second Spokane area fuel depot before the Whitley Fuel depot caught fire.

An employee at the Petro Card fuel facility in southeast Spokane spotted some suspicious activity at their property located near the intersection of Sprague and Haven. The man was in the company’s yard when he spotted two men in a vehicle checking out the Petro Card fuel distribution center.

The men, who were described as having beards and wearing turbans, were driving a white Plymouth around the perimeter of the facility….

One of the things investigators are looking into is the surveillance video retrieved from several businesses that neighbor the Whitley Fuel site. In one of the videos released by Comcast, which has an office across the street from Whitley Fuel, a white vehicle – now being described as a Toyota – is observed stopping and a passenger getting out of the vehicle and heading into the yard, only to get back in the vehicle and speed away from the scene.

I’m on a limited budget here! I have to go to Wal-Mart. Oh, Sam’s has an emergency food supply kit (packed in 5 gallon bucket) for (IIRC) $89. Not a bad idea to keep in the trunk or a handy closet.

No terror or Islam connection. Go back to work. Pay your taxes, spend money at the mall.

You are a real pro on firearms and politics, No2Libs. Thanks. I will be using the long range Browning for big game, bear and elk. You really were brough up on guns. I didn’t have a BB gun until I was eight.

Mick, I cannot advise you strongly enough, do not get a Glock!!! Peruse that link for a while, and remember, Glock just signed a contract with Iran, a few months ago, to sell them thirty thousand.
What you really need, since you didn’t mention it, is a good Colt 1911a1, or one of it’s many wonderful variant copies. Depending on how much you want to spend, and the features you like, I can steer you towards a good couple of manufacturers.
As for a long range rifle, what are you anticipating using it for? If you are thinking tactical, as opposed to sporting, then a .308 Winchester chambering in a classic American bolt action rifle, with a heavy barrel, would be what I recommend.
Personally, I have a .300 WinMag in a Browning A-Bolt Stalker, with a medium sized barrel…in between a target and sporting barrel. It will handle anything in North America, as far as game is concerned, is extremely accurate(often two hits in one hole), and the .300WinMag offers a wide variety of loads, from 150gr to 220gr, but I actually take mine hunting, so you have to decide how you want to use it. I prefer the Browning A-Bolt platform, over the Winchester Model 70, or the Remington Model 700, eventhough the Remington is the first choice for an action that Police and Military sniper rifles are based on.
As for a carbine, Bushmaster is a good maker of Colt clones, as is DPMS, Olympic Arms, and many others. If you go back and look at the OlyArms webpage, they also make extremely accurate AR styled rifles in .308Winchester. The high grade OA’s use broach cutting for their rifles, instead of the typical and less expensive button rifling.
I think 12yoa was legal, back in the day, at least the hunting license was. I got my first shotgun a few weeks after my seventh birthday, a .410 bolt-action, got my first .22 Remington semi-auto when I was eight, and my first real big-boy hunting rifle when I was twelve…a Mauser re-chambered for the 7.62NATO(which is not the same round as a .308Winchester.

I had earned Master Marksman medals from the NRA when I was 13. My first gun was a Remmington 12-gage shotgun when I was 12. Is that legal?

…Maybe a .50 cal. rifle?

Then a Bushmaster AR-15 carbine would be nice.

I would like a long range scoped rifle and a Glock…

No2Libs, I should keep my AR-15 a pistol. It’s registered as such. I was thinking of getting a concealed weapon permit with it. My other firearms are home defense types; Mossberg pistol grip pump, and .357 Magnum. That’s all. What else do I need?

A thousand rounds for the AR15. There’s lots of other ammo.

#4-Mick, you have an OA-93 pistol? Which one?
Why would you want to convert your pistol into a carbine, when you can just add a carbine to your inventory?
As for optics, I don’t know what your preference is, but I have a red dot hologram sight on my carbine, and I love it. You have to learn to shoot with your head up and both eyes open, but isn’t a difficult transition, as it is more natural, and allows you to continually scan your environment for more targets while putting the dot on what you want to shoot.
#6-Swampie…a thousand rounds…really?
I have just afew more rounds than that.
