Yes, We’re Open

Many boxes have been unpacked, many yet to go.

Couple of housekeeping issues:

I was able to transfer all of the content from the old site except for categories, authors, and comments. So, I arranged for blogbackuponline to transfer the comments on the post itself, rather than in the comments section. I know it’s tacky, but I couldn’t find a work-around other than leaving the comments behind, which I didn’t want to do.

Second, the categories and authors presents a tougher issue. I want to be able to accredit each author with their work, so I will probably have to go back and re-enter the category tags on those posts, and include the author’s name as a category. That way, you will be able to access each author’s work with a click, without having to go back to the old site to retrieve it. It’s going to take a while, and I ask for your patience.

Also, I am excited to be at Conservablogs.com. I enjoy a challenge, and having so many talented and worthy writers in a single shop is challenging, indeed™. Kind of gets those competitive juices flowing, if you know what I mean. Thanks VH and Tammi for blazing the path, and for your encouragement and friendship. And, thanks Eric for the opportunity, and for the technical support.

Finally, in a giant suck-up to the powers that be at Conservablogs, I would like to draw your attention to a major shindig October 11 - 13 in Reno, The Conservative Leadership Conference. Check out this link, and while you’re there, if you know of a worthy conservative blogger *ahem* that you would like to nominate for Blogger of the Year, such as one who was actually ranked #1 in the world by Technorati, well then you might want to do them the honor of nominating them and saying some nice words, etc.

  37. comment number 37 by: SwampWoman

Heh, yeah, I found it Nuke, and you’re right, great site. I then wandered over to steampunk workshop from a link there, and have been sending SwampMan links to various projects because he also believes that everybody should be able to build anything themselves.

A bit of socialism okay for Cuba.
I know the author means well, in a text book kind of way, but he really doesn’t understand the difference between socialism and communism.
    Let’s let Vladimir Lenin splain’it:

“The goal of socialism is communism.”

  44. comment number 44 by: SwampWoman

He is one of those people that, unfortunately, think that the role of government is to be the Big Beneficient Daddy (or Mommy) to the populace, and relentlessly stifle any sort of aberrant behavior such as any tendencies towards self-defense or self-employment.

I feel like I’m late to the party! Yay!!! You did it!!! I did the tacky comment in the post thing too. I think it’s better than no comments at all. :) Lot of work, huh? This moving business.

This is great — glad you’re here. :)
