A different kind of moving day

August 17th, 2007 at 1:53 pm . by nuke

Last Friday, I began the process of blog-moving … lots of work. And, it’s still a work in progress.

Today, however, I was involved in a different kind of moving episode: Daughter-goes-back-to-college day.

Hard to believe the Summer is almost gone. Hard to believe because it’s still hotter than heck outside. The end of the Summer in Dixie is more of an event for calendar watchers than it is for people in other parts of the country — people that actually have four seasons. Not here.

It has been a good summer having Daughter at home. She worked hard, saved her money, had some fun, and more times than not, made me realize that these end of summer move-outs are simply a way for Mrs. Nuke and me to prepare for the day when she moves out for good. And, I’m not really looking forward to that. Know what I mean?

Since this is Friday, that can only mean one thing. It’s time for the World Famous Friday Open Thread. This is your chance to post linkage, track-backs, comments, questions, shout-outs, rants, raves, etc.

Be there.

Aloha.

Don’t worry, Nuke. She may come back to live with you one day with a child or three. Wouldn’t that be fun?

Grandson thought that putting some of my lotion on his legs and then sitting down on my sofa was an excellent idea. Yes, it is stained, I believe irreparably since I haven’t been able to lift the approximately 12″ x 12″ spot, but he wanted to smell pretty like Meemaw. Daughter pointed out that I would have been very angry at her/spanked her for that, but I told her she wasn’t nearly as cute when she was little (which of course is not true). Funny how things like nice furniture and/or a spotless clean house that isn’t on the Department of Health’s list for condemnation just doesn’t matter as much anymore.

I have absolutely no complaints for the summer we have had, other than some folks getting flooded out and losing lives and property.

It’s a big ol’wheel, nuke, and it just keeps on turnin’.

    Hey Nuke,

with the 8th kid coming, wifey and I often think about when they’ll start movin’ out. And to us it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing. But, we are about 4 years out from that, things may change.

Each year I keep thinking that I’ll bring less stuff next year and it never seems to happen. I feel sorry for all the other girls that dont have their dads to help them. One of my friends said that her dad would only help her if she paid him 50-75$ dollars + gas money… I coudlnt help but think that I’d be in debt up to my eyeballs if I had to cough up money each time you helped me, or got my tush out of the fire… As for when I move out–as you’re always telling me, lets not worry about that until it happens.

Thanks, Dad. Sorry I have so much stuff. At least we got out early before the noon time heat came.
