China has banned Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without government permission. According to a statement issued by the State Administration for Religious Affairs, the law, which goes into effect next month and strictly stipulates the procedures by which one is to reincarnate, is “an important move to institutionalize management of reincarnation.”

Whoohooo! Finally an open thread to post articles in an appropriate place when I wasn’t sure that somebody else had linked to them earlier in the week when I was doing that 4-letter word to pay for electricity, which was $400 this month.

The above post was brought to you courtesy of The Weasel Times and Stoat Intelligencer, an entertaining blog with a very electic subject matter.

Before anybody has a vision of me going shopping for red high heels, something sheer, and chocolate sauce, banish the thought, although SwampMan’s birthday IS this weekend. I need some paintbrushes, blue painters’ tape, and to look through the off-tinted bargain-priced paint without SwampMan protesting about ugly colors. Heh. Should I redo his bathroom in Pepto-Bismol pink with a flowery border, or would that cause him to get a not guilty verdict at his trial?

    Well, how interesting.
Last week, the latest leftard talking point was the high suicide rate in the U.S.Army.
    Here’s what isn’t mentioned.
    Little wonder.

Is Jonathan Demme taking Jimmy Carter’s side?…

It would seem as though film director Jonathan Demme is one of the few people who’s willing to side with the horrible Jimmy Carter, and has just made a documentary about him called “Man From Plains”. John Podhoretz got a news clip about it….

He’s, er, especially not happy about me having run wild at the hardware store, and having to borrow $20 to keep my checking account from going in the red until payday.

/Some women buy expensive shoes. I buy expensive paintbrushes and other fun toys.

SwampMan is getting tossed baby greens salad and grilled wild salmon. He wants fried catfish and grits.

  30. comment number 30 by: SwampWoman

He bought new clothes today, and pointed out that I could use a wardrobe overhaul instead of another 5 gallons of paint.

/Keep it up, baby, Pepto-Bismol pink.

    Compromise.
Roll that salmon in some corn meal, and get out the grits.

  33. comment number 33 by: SwampWoman

Perhaps “borrow” is a misnomer because that would tend to indicate that I was going to pay it back.

Sigh. You’re right. I’ll get out the grits.

Masked Men Set Iraqi Child on Fire…

Masked men pour gasoline on a 5-year-old Iraqi boy and set him on fire for no apparent reason. This is the kind of enemy our Soldiers are fighting in Iraq. These terrorists prey on the most vulnerable and least able to defend themselves….

Grilled salmon marinated in whiskey and red peppers, garlic cheese grits, and a salad of assorted dark green leafy organically grown lettuces, shredded red cabbage, carrots, shredded parmesan cheese, and low-cal dressing, of which he would not even allow the salad on his plate to contaminate his grits.
