Body of Nailah Franklin found
September 27th, 2007 at 9:45 am . by nukeCALUMET CITY, Ill. (AP) - The body of a woman was found Thursday near a forest preserve not far from where a missing drug sales representative’s car was abandoned, police said.
Calumet City Police Chief Russell Larson confirmed Thursday morning that a woman’s body had been found there but not identified.
“We’re still in prayer because we don’t know, and we’re still keeping up hope,” said Dwayne Johnson, an uncle of the missing 28-year-old woman, Nailah Franklin.
Franklin, a sales representative for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly, was reported missing Sept. 19 after she missed a meeting at work. Her car was discovered in Hammond, Ind., on Friday night near an abandoned building.
Shortly before she disappeared, Franklin filed a police report about getting threatening phone calls from a man she had dated briefly. Chicago police said Monday they had interviewed someone Franklin once dated but have not named a suspect in her disappearance.
Since her disappearance, family members and volunteers have papered the area with fliers and taken out a newspaper ad seeking the public’s help. They have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
So sad. Is the reporting of this type of event just getting better, or is the rate of occurrence of this type of heinous crime increasing?
FoxNews is reporting that it is confirmed that the body found is that of Miss Franklin.

FNC just interviewed a reporter from Chicago, and she is stating that the AP report that it is confirmed is false. An Uncle at the scene said the family has not been allowed to see the body yet, so confirmation is on hold.
It most likely is her, but it is still unofficial.
I think these types of murders are reported more quickly and widely than ever before. As Laura Ingraham calls it, “Tragedy TV.” I believe these types of crimes are still proportional in our population, it’s just there are more people than ever before. The larger the population, the larger the number of criminals, but with the same basic percentages in place, rising and falling in ratio, in different years.
