Dick Cheney and Barack Obama are cousins

October 16th, 2007 at 6:57 pm . by el nuko

Heh. Yup, no kidding. File this under who’d a-thunk it?

From Reuters

wwwreuterscom.jpgThere’s no sign of a family reunion planned, but U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama are distant cousins.

So says the vice president’s wife, Lynne Cheney, who said she discovered that her husband of 43 years is eighth cousins with the senator from Illinois.

The two men could hardly be more different. Cheney is an advocate for pursuing the war in Iraq to try to stabilize the country, while Obama wants to get U.S. troops out of Iraq.

Mrs. Cheney told MSNBC on Tuesday that it was “an amazing American story that one ancestor … could be responsible down the family line for lives that have taken such different and varied paths.”

The common ancestor was Mareen Devall, who the Chicago Sun-Times said was a 17th century immigrant from France.

Mrs. Cheney said she discovered the link through family research for her new book, “Blue Skies, No Fences,” about growing up in Wyoming.

    /and quicker fingers

  4. comment number 4 by: Robert_D

Yet they couldn’t be farther apart. One is a finger in the air, which way the wind blows pussy, the other does what he thinks is right and don’t care what people think of him.

    Henh.
Was reading over the Emory University records on the firing of Prof. Bellesiles back in 2002, for his fraudulent book “Arming America.” Dude sure went to a lot of trouble to lie.

I remember the name. NRA was all over it. What a society we live in now, where you can lie about guns and be believed because the MSM promotes it. What a society we live in now, where you can lie about the climate and be believed because the MSM promotes it.

Lies upon lies…and often they are the easiest to believe.
Most of us feel some guilt when we lie, for whatever reason, but not the leftards, they have no conscience about doing it.

I don’t remember this guy. What did he say?

We live in a time of steady public decline in civilized values. The Left shamelessly peddles the idea that real patriotism means leaking national security secrets when our soldiers are risking their lives in combat. The national media have become so vulgarized that scapegoating GOP presidents has become the open aim of the “profession” of journalism. Opportunistic demagogues like Al Gore jump on the phony Global Warming bandwagon, and are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, thus raising his public image while debasing the Nobel Prize.

We have seen immense vulgarization in one generation, a loss of simple decency in public life. Much of that decline has been deliberately pushed by the Left and the tabloid press, which is no longer separate from the “mainstream” press. Sociopathy is flying high.

    Bellesiles?
His book stated that going back to Colonial times, that guns weren’t actually that common, and that the gun culture was a more recent historic event. He falsified his research evidence, conveniently lost some, was unable to reproduce his footnotes, ignored established research that didn’t fit his research, and was either intentionally falsifying his info, was a sloppy researcher, or both. Anyway, he agreed to leave the University, vowing to continue his research to prove he was right, but hasn’t been heard from since.

This will be a true “magnum opus.” I urge you to take a look and behold the
wit and wisdom of LGF poster “Gordon,” commonly known as “the Nodrog.”
These are his own words and commentary, unsullied by the distortions and
lies propagated by others who shall not be named (well, they’re named in the
blog, so you’ll have to read it!). Check back often for updates, as the
glorious charge of the Nodrog, scattering the ranks of the lizardoid
illiterati, marches through 4 1/2 years and thousands of posts.

    Aaahhh, there it is.

  21. comment number 21 by: no2liberals

So it’s a compilation of his posts?
Seems a little tedious. OTH, he has never been banned, right?

  22. comment number 22 by: Nuke

No, I think he got banned recently. He mentions it in his first post

  23. comment number 23 by: Nuke

    In his sidebar;;
“After unceremoniously being blocked by Charles for spurious reasons (that will be the end of our story) and being rejected by Gulf Coast Pundit, he has decided to channel his blogging energies into this unauthorized history of LGF, as seen through the brilliance of “the Nodrog.”"

  24. comment number 24 by: no2liberals

I never addressed him directly, but once, I think.
He was generally scroll-over material, and left him to those who didn’t mind such a scrawny meal.

I’ll never forget a troll by the name of otterfisher, one Saturday night. Nam, reaganite, and I kicked him around for a while, before kicking him to the curb. What a loon.

Now I know why you didn’t answer my comment last week about “the beginning of the end”. I thought you were talking to me. And I thought it was about Steven Carpenter. Dang it, I hate when that shiite happens.

The second one seems correct. G’nite…….

Wow, And I wonder why such a thing would be made public. Although if you go back 8 (I think it’s 8) generations you will find that you have 256 sets of grand parents, so it’s not real hard to end up related to people you would never think of if you go back a few generations to look. Good for Obama and bad for Cheney.
