2007: The Turn-around Season
We had glimpses of it last year in several close-but-no-cigar games against the SEC’s best.
2007 is different. Those close losses are now close victories, and the State faithful couldn’t be prouder.
This one turned out to be a low scoring, tough, physical battle in Stark Vegas, just as predicted. The difference is the key plays that State couldn’t make last year, they are making this year.
Play #1
1st Quarter. QB Wes Carroll suffers an interception on his first pass of the day. Bama is in business, but can only manage a field goal.
Bama’s first two possessions brought them in scoring range, but State’s defense held them to six points. The game could have been over early, but a flat Bama offense was unable to take advantage.
Play #2
The play of the game occurs with 24 seconds left in the first half, Bama has 3rd and goal from the 2, Titus Brown pressures John Parker Wilson into an ill-advised pass which is intercepted 3 yards deep in the endzone by AJ Johnson. AJ takes it to the house…..103 yards.
Halftime score State 10-9
Play #3
Bama’s first possesion of the 3rd quarter ends with a Derrick Pegues interception and return to the Bama 25. RB Anthony Dixon did the rest, giving State a 17-9 lead.
For 2007, Mississippi State is 3-0 vs Alabama teams, having defeated UAB on Homecoming, and Auburn on the road earlier this year. State is now bowl eligible for the 1st time since 2000.

This is more fitting for Stupid Congress Tricks, but here it is anyway.
hehehehe
Well it’s really not funny, just true.
It’s funny, just not Ha-Ha funny.
Man!
What a nutty and exciting day in football, and we ain’t near about done.
Some of the games going on now are really surprising.
Whoodathunk?
Hmmm.
Mike Huckabee- is basically a pro-life democrat.
Sure is taking a long time for my page to load.
Anyway, Ohio State lost to Illinois. That’s awesome!
That makes the upcoming game with Kansas and Oklahoma State big.
lfg, tammy bruce, shackleford, hotair, gateway, are all rudy supporters. Interesting that they would try to call Huck a pro-life democrat when their guy is a gun controlling, homosexual rights advocating, pro-abortion, pro-illegal immigration moderate. He is more liberal than Huck, but he did a good job on 9/11, and that’s supposed to qualify him for the big time.
Sorry Rudy. Your’re too liberal for me.
Mine too…..the page thing.
Miller on Gateway Pundit is WRONG!!!
Huckabee - a pro-life democrat? There is no way you have done any real investigation about Mr. Huckabee.
Huckabee - one wife, pro-life, no gun control, not flipped or flopped on life issues, has a record of running something other than his mouth. His problem is that he is not a millionaire.
To dismiss a man of the caliber of Huckabee is short-sighted, even to blindness. He is the only man running that could unmask Ms. Clinton!
Nuke, I had no idea where all those folks were leaning.
Mark, go easy. I didn’t say it, I’m just the messenger, reporting what was said at the conference. I support Mike.
As for Giuliani, I think he has some strong qualities as a leader, in a position like Homeland Security or FBI director, but not as a GOP President.
My hmmmm was an expression of bewilderment, and didn’t quite know what to think of it. Nuke helped fill in the blanks.
Some of the anti-southern, anti-christian remarks that have been allowed to stand on those sites really piss me off.
The Frednecks over at Free Republic are pretty vicious too.
I go to Gateway Pundit all the time, and honestly, I never detected any such leanings. Even at that, he was only reporting what the speaker had to say, not his own opinion.
I never go lfg anymore, haven’t been to Hot Air in a while, and rusty and tammy aren’t even on my radar, unless someone links to them.
I seldom go to FR either, so have no idea what goes on over there, unless, once again, someone links to it. I don’t understand their formatting.
OOOPS!
Time for KU and OSU.
I take your judgement on GP. I thought the candidate summary was GP’s opinion.
lfg, tammy, and olliepundit are solidly rudy…shckleford seems like he leans that way.
Carolina just took the lead over FL, 14-13
Look out Gators!
Kansas is up 7-0.
Virginia leading Miami 31-0
Oh how the mighty have fallen
/heheee
Miami? Whodat?
Guess I missed that part while I was eating.
Looks like it’s gonna be a high score game.
Guess I need to head on to get some more sleep; getting whupped up again by another chest cold brought over by the younguns. Guess I’ll wait until morning to find out if SC was able to overcome that 27-14 lead by Florida.
/But first, gotta go out and unload some feed and feed the livestock/dogs/cats.
Dang, swampie…another cold?
That ain’t right.
I’m trying to hang til halftime on the KU game, while switching over to a couple of others. I’ve been going and doing since early, and with this belly full of sketti and meatballs, I’m about done in.
Eye candy break!
kyle won the truck race last night…….and the busch race tonight……he’s in the cup race tomorrow. sorry for the intrusion.
Good eye candy!!!
that helped my sweet tooth
I think HRT is a bit shaken by the recent attacks on her by the boys. She’s getting more desperate and it looks like she may be making mistakes that the clinton express never make twice. Or at least nobody ever lives to talk about their second mistake. Look for another “suicide” in the coming weeks.
Clinton Campaign Accused for the Second Time of Planting a Question at a Public Appearance
She’s such a…a…anus.
/her thighs are so big, her stocking friction melts glaciers
Need I remind you?
So you want to work for the Clintons?
She’s the cause of global warming….okay, half the cause. The other cause is algore himself bloviating.
Can you imagine what she does to the environment, when she cuts the cheese?
/i scare myself
/you scare me too…
(not really)
Take a look at this.
Contribute And Win A Lunch Date With Hillary!
I’ll bet you are just all over that one…..
henh
Guess she would blame it on the nearest little person, like a waitress.
Oh yeah, I’m all over that.
/now I have to clean the skid marks off of my monitor
Bout to shut it down.
If any of you are still up, and you have ESPN2, check out the game. The best QB in the country, that you have never heard of is playing for UofHawaii.
His name is Colt Brennan, with a fascinating story of a young man who used bad judgement, and was given a second chance.
I see Steve Spurrier’s boys didn’t do too well against the Gators last night.
Speaking of Hillary, Dumb Looks Still Free is looking at the . Very long and detailed.
Red Mafia and its connectivity.
I see your chest cold is still bothering you there, Swampie.
Yeah, the Gator named Tebow was in a bird killing mood, last night.
The dilemma of the values voters: A vote for Huckabee is a vote for Giuliani.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
I am a proponent of the fair tax so am inclined to back Huckabee in that regard; however, I do not think that he has the funding necessary to win the nomination.
Yeah, I missed on the USC upset pick.
But, I did pretty good on the rest.
Not bad, but the Vols stopping D Mac wasn’t quite what you expected. Vols are sneaky good, and might be in the Championship game.
/they just might
Hey Swampie, found your post #41 in the spam filter.
The link is not just busted, it’s non-existent.
Work on that cold, woodja?
I think I’ll go by a doc-in-the-box tomorrow. As for the link, the story was there at Townhall.com earlier (I swear!). Maybe it was taken down. And maybe I’ll hallucinating again.
