Fred endorses McCain

February 8th, 2008 at 10:36 pm . by el nuko

Fred Thompson gets the award for “Biggest Disappointment of the Primary Season.” The anti-climax occurred today.

“This is no longer about past preferences or differences. It is about what is best for our country and for me that means that Republican should close ranks behind John McCain,” Thompson said in a statement reported by the Associated Press.

Thanks for nothing Fred.

Fred: you don’t owe the F’heads anything

January 20th, 2008 at 11:24 pm . by el nuko

It’s time to go back home, Fred. You made a run at it. It didn’t happen for you.
Head on back to your wife and raise your young family. That’s what’s important. You don’t owe the Fredheads anything. You sacrificed quite a bit to make this run, and they just want you to give more.
From Cameron’s Corner:

Thompson’s SC Farewell”

“It can be painful to watch candidates make concessions speeches after a do or die situation.

Expect to hear something as early as Monday. Fredheads need and deserve to know what’s going on.”

Fredheads? Leave Fred alone.

Fred sez, hold off on economic stimulus package

January 18th, 2008 at 9:31 pm . by el nuko

From Yahoo news…

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - Republican White House hopeful Fred Thompson made light of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s call for a quick economic stimulus Thursday and said it might be best to leave the economy alone for now.

Thompson was answering questions in a restaurant where Bernanke could be seen on a TV urging short-term relief to avert a recession. Thompson was asked what he would do.

“You could probably get a ‘Law & Order’ rerun on TNT there if you wanted to switch that around a little bit,” quipped Thompson, who acted on the series. When the host reminded him Bernanke is a South Carolina native, Thompson joked: “That looks a little boring to me. I don’t care.”

More seriously, he said he was not ready to embrace a stimulus package.

“We’re all concerned about the direction of the economy,” said the former Tennessee senator. “We’ve had a good run, but we can’t take growth for granted.” He said “we’ve got to have a potential stimulus package on the table to be discussed if it would make sense to be used in short order, but we’re not quite there yet.”

And doing nothing might leave the economy stronger, he said.

This man makes jokes while the President and the Fed Chairman work to avoid a recession.
SHEEESH. What a maroon. Go back to sleep Fredo.

Tactically For Fred

January 17th, 2008 at 11:04 am . by el nuko

Writing in Teh Spectator, Quinn Hillyer seeks to extend his allotted fifteen minutes in a major-league suck up move to the group of conservatives whose names he dropped in yesterday’s AS blog piece…

Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, George Will, Phyllis Schlafly, Michael Reagan, Jed Babbin, Rich Lowry, Jonah Goldberg, Kathryn Lopez, Fred Barnes, Charles Krauthammer, Peggy Noonan, Ann Coulter, Bob Novak, Bob Dole, Laura Ingraham, David Limbaugh, Donald Lambro, Thomas Sowell, John Fund, the Wall Street Journal, Pete Wehner, David Frum, Deroy Murdock, Paul Mirengoff, John Hinderaker, Frank Gaffney, the Club for Growth, Dick Armey, and Pat Toomey.

Revealing the “purely tactical” considerations for supporting Fred Thompson in Carolina, Hillyer’s Stage One reasoning is comically ironic.

Let me see if I can help…..“Fred Thompson is the Complete Conservative…The only candidate who can unite the Reagan coalition.. … … Consistent on all the issues… … He can unite all three legs of the conservative coalition… … Fred D. Thompson is the kindest, warmest, bravest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life….”

Glug, glug. Now go play some solitaire.
More from the koolaid brigade

Fred Thompson surging!

January 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm . by el nuko

The Fred surge continues!

Final results from Michigan show Fred Thompson (the only conservative in the race -his words, not mine) edging out Rudy Guiliani for 5th place in the Republican Primary.

A quick check of Fredblogs shows the consensus opinion: “Fred D. Thompson is the kindest, warmest, bravest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life….”

Michigan results: Romney 39, McCain 30, Huckabee 16, Paul 6, Thompson 4, Guiliani 3, Undecided 2, Hunter 0.

If Thompson does not score a convincing victory in Carolina, he needs to withdraw.
