What’s past is prologue

So, what does John F. Kerry (who served in Viet Nam) have in common with the current crop of winter soldiers? From Obiter Dictum

In May 2006 an IVAW member named Jesse MacBeth appeared in a video widely circulated on the Internet. MacBeth claimed to have been a Ranger in Iraq who had committed horrific atrocities with his unit, including the execution of hundreds of men, women and children. However, MacBeth was exposed as a fraud who had been dismissed from the Army before completing Basic Training. Source: Seattle Times

In 2005, IVAW co-founder Jimmy Massy, a Marine veteran of Iraq, was found to have fabricated stories published in the Modesto Bee, the Sacramento Bee and the Associated Press. Ron Harris of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and four other embedded reports and other Marines in Massey’s unit refuted the claims. The news organizations published retractions. In an interview in March 2005, IVAW leader Camilo Mejia was asked if he had ever abused or tortured detainees in Iraq and replied in the negative. During his court martial for desertion Mejia again made no claims to have done or been ordered to do so, which claim if made might have strengthened his defense. However, in an interview the next August with Dahr Jamail, author of “Beyond the Green Zone”, Mejia’s story changed to “I tortured guys.” Sources: PBS / Dahr Jamail’s Mideast Dispatches / Point of Clarity News
In the same interview with Dahr Jamail in Aug 2005, Jamail wrote of what several IVAW members were telling him “I type furiously for three hours, trying to keep up with the stories each of the men shared….about the atrocities of what they saw, and committed, while in Iraq.” IVAW member Harvey Tharp was quoted by Jamail saying “Most of what we’re talking about is war crimes…war crimes because they are directed by our government for power projection.”Mideast Dispatches / Yemen Times

However, in an interview with the Yemen Times published on Feb 25, 2008, Tharp admitted to never having witnessed an atrocity in Iraq. Sources: Dahr Jamail’s

Michelle Malkin says, “Grab the Popcorn” as you watch John Kerry try to run away from his past. Jason Mattera’s video interview of Kerry needs to go viral, doncha know. Cha-ching!

Heh, I love it.

There’s a life-size mural of His Majesty at the Hotel Juan Carlos in Barcelona. If I can find the photo of Mrs. Nuke and me standing along side, I’ll post it.

Worried about your civil liberties?

November 3rd, 2007 at 10:34 pm . by el nuko

Newt Gingrich asks the question, “Are you worried about your civil liberties?”

This short address talks about what might happen to our civil liberties if our country loses a city to a terrorist attack.

Naturally, the people who need to listen to this are more concerned about being loved by the “world community,” and they won’t hear this important message. Still, you hafta try, you know?

Moonbat advocates converting to islam

October 26th, 2007 at 9:36 am . by el nuko

I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised. This is just a continuation of the “better red than dead” theme that the Left advocated some 30 years ago. From the Daily Pos, A Simple Way to End the War on Terror…..(h/t DogByte6RER)….

While it appears from more than one point of view that the War in Iraq and the War on Terror are situations from which we may never be able to extricate ourselves, from the mountains of Pakistan comes a very simple solution: convert to Islam.

Before we reject this out of hand, lets seriously consider it for a moment: Osama Bin Laden promised the wars would be over if Americans convert to Islam.

This may sound like a lot to ask from the most religious country in the industrialized world. But of all the Christians in America today who profess to be religious, how many of us are seriously devout?

How many of us are really just religious lightweights, happy to simply go to church every Sunday, attend church socials, knock back a drink or two every Christmas and not worry ourselves about the deeper implications of our faith?

Given the way most of us pay any real attention to the tenets of our faith, life really wouldn’t be that different if we were to exchange one faith for another. The prayers would be different, but we would recite them just as mindlessly as we do today. The sermons would in all likelihood be exactly the same, and we’d continue to snore through them.

Sure, there are a few people here and there who take religion seriously, but they are in such a small minority that their protests can be easily ignored. All in all, converting to Islam would be a small price to pay for an end to the killing and maiming of our sons and daughters, not to mention the billions of dollars we could put to better use than fighting this perpetual war. So let’s do away with our religious pretences, adopt Islam as our new faith, add a few extra holidays to our calendar, and get down to the real business at hand: pumping oil.

What a f*ing maroon.

The disgrace known as Jimmy Carter

October 10th, 2007 at 4:30 pm . by el nuko

Jimmy Carter has officially gone off the deep end. It’s sad to see a man who was once the most powerful man in the world reduced to imbecilic caterwauling. It is disgusting as well.

from CNN…

The United States tortures prisoners in violation of international law, former President Carter said Wednesday.

Former President Carter says the U.S. “has abandoned the basic principle of human rights.”

“I don’t think it. I know it,” Carter told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“Our country for the first time in my life time has abandoned the basic principle of human rights,” Carter said. “We’ve said that the Geneva Conventions do not apply to those people in Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo, and we’ve said we can torture prisoners and deprive them of an accusation of a crime to which they are accused.”

Carter also said President Bush creates his own definition of human rights.
