Thanks Jerz. You hit the nail on the head. That elitist attitude of "you need me cause you aren't smart enough to understand" is BS. Some of these establishment politicians need a reminder of how this relationship works. We are the boss and they are the employee, not the other way around. They are elected to serve us, not tell us that we don't understand what's best for us.

I'm sorry I missed all that. Aiazzi is willing to engage, but only on his terms, I've found. He neglected to respond to an email I sent him and checked out of a conversation after being forced to defend his comments that essentially talked down to bloggers. I like that he gets into it, though. The rest of this City Council could use that kind of courage. They just have to understand that they won't win any debates by making the other side seem like they don't get it. The key is to be right about what you're discussing and win on the merits. Stay after them, Todd, and maybe we'll start seeing some real conversations.

[...] Todd Zuccato argues his case with near perfection on his new blog. When we talk about police levels, we talk about them as officers per 1000 residents. We are currently at about 1.8 officers per 1000 residents. We would like to be at about 2.5 per 1000, which is where we were 15 years ago. So let’s do some quick math. [...]
