Not Only On Memorial Day, But Every Day:

A Special Thanks to all that are now serving, and to all that have served in the past to protect the Freedoms that we too often take for granted.

This page is dedicated to those that are currently serving or have served in the Armed Services of these United States.
I also wish to thank the families of those that are serving, as they too have sacrificed much in the defense of us all.
God Bless America, and God Bless All that Serve.
Thank you,
Tim

A Military Mother’s Poem

For little things we never notice - the logistics and your boss
For all your service gives to me and for all it probably cost
For doing what is asked of you and disregarding self
For dusting off the surplus cans of whoop-ass on a shelf
For the aching endless hours feeling homesick, buggy, blue
This grateful ol’ American sends a heartfelt I thank you

Links to Inspirational Military Videos
There are many videos that have been posted on the internet to honor hour military personnel. Some are posted by friends and family to honor a specific soldier, others are posted as a tribute and small expression of gratitude to all that step forward to protect us all.
Following are just a few of my favorites that I have come across. Please post your comments, and submit a link if you have additional videos that you would like added to this list.

Remember Me
This link is to a video produced and posted by a 15 year old high school student, Elizabeth Palmer. This video is my personal favorite. It is also the favorite of many others, with over 7 million views as of May 2007.

Damage is Done
In the words of the producer: This is a picture collage of US soldiers from Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines in current U.S. conflicts. The song is “Damage is Done” by Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society. No political message with this, just wanted to give a tribute to the brave men and women of the U.S. military who are risking their lives for our freedom.

The Few, The Proud, … The Marines!
The title says it all. Inspirational video by, and about the United States Marines.

Give Faith a Fighting Chance
In the words of the producer: Support the troops who have to go through hell and back everyday over there. Never give up.

Links to Military Support Web Sites
These are just a few of the websites that I am aware of. If you know of others please send me the link and a one or two sentence description of the site.

A Million Thanks
Three years ago a young girl, Shauna Fleming, started a program called “A Million Thanks” as part of a high school project. She started the program to encourage Americans to write letters of appreciation to our soldiers, and to help facilitate the delivery of those letters. The efforts of this young girl demonstrate what can be accomplished with a simple idea and a passion to implement that idea. Her efforts are inspiring.

Operation Air Conditioner
This site grew out of the desire of a mother to get an air conditioner for her son in Iraq. Now the site provides many supplies and services to our deployed troops.

American Legion
Includes many services offered by the American Legion and links to other support services.

America Supports You
Program started by the Department of Defense to show support of our troops.

Any Soldier.com
Started with an idea of an Army Infantry soldier to help those in his unit that did not regularly get mail. You can send a note or package to “Any Soldier”, and it will be delivered to an appreciative man or woman in one of the Armed Forces.

American Legion Support Links
The American Legion provides dozens of other links to troop support sites and organizations.

Soldier’s Angels
This is another site that was founded by a proud military mother. It offers many opportunities for you to support the troops in real and meaningful ways. Also has links to many other support sites.

Soldier Wall
This site is a virtual “Soldier Wall” with pictures of hundreds of soldiers posted by family and friends. This site puts many personal faces behind the news stories. Anyone can post a picture of a loved one in the service by selecting an open space on the “wall.” Personal messages can be sent to anyone on the wall by clicking on the soldier’s images. When you visit the page be sure to select the “about soldier wall” to learn the story behind this site. This is one of my new favorite sites.

Military.com
This site offers many means of support to active and former military personnel. An excellent site that you should visit and explore.
