On Sunday, Ben Smith of the Politico reported that Barack Obama told radio talker Michael Smerconish that he felt his church was not a “crackpot church.”

“I will be honest with you that I didn’t have that many conversations with him over the last year just because I have been so busy. I haven’t been going to church. I wasn’t hearing a lot of these comments. The ones that are most offensive are ones that I never knew about until they were reported on. I had had conversations with him in the past – in fact from the day I first met him — about some of his views. Understand this, something else that has not been reported on enough is despite these very offensive views, this guy has built one of the finest churches in Chicago. This is not a crackpot church. “

Yet, on the same day as the Politico report it was revealed that back on July 22nd, 2007 Trinity United Church of Christ published in their church newsletter an pro-terror, anti-Jew article written by an official of the terrorist group Hamas.

Obama was reportedly shocked that this happened.

Sen. Barack Obama says that a pro-Hamas op-ed printed in his church’s bulletin was “outrageously wrong.” In an issue dated July 22, 2007, in a section titled “Pastor’s Page,” the Trinity United Church in Chicago reprinted an article by Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzook. The article, which originally appeared as an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, justifies the Palestinian terrorist group’s denial of Israel’s right to exist.

Not a “crackpot church,” huh? It has a pastor that claims God should “Damn” America and it publishes anti-Jew, terror excusing articles in its own church newsletter and we are expected to believe that this isn’t a “crackpot church”?

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that as radical a leftist as Barack “the messiah” Obama is linked to a terror supporting, Jew hating, anti-American church as the Trinity United Church of Christ, but it is a bit surprising that a supposed conservative like radio host Michael Smerconish is bending over backwards to excuse all this hatred and vitriol, isn’t it?

Smerconish seems to be more interested in making himself look “reasonable” than in searching for the truth with this issue. He is obviously one of those “conservatives” that is so hot to find an issue he can tout to show that he isn’t a racist, that he is “reasonable,” and that he is not like those other evil, mean conservatives, that truth doesn’t matter at all.

Plus it is a bit hard to take seriously Barack’s claim that he couldn’t have known what the very wrong Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr. was saying because he didn’t have any “conversations with him over the last year” just because he has “been so busy.” After all, Wrights comments about how the USA deserved the attacks on 9/11 did not come in just the last year, but were made back in 2001. There have been many such sermons and statements from Wright at least as far back as 2001 so Barack’s claims of surprise over Wright’s hatred can only be believed by a willing suspension of disbelief, if you’ll pardon my Hillaryism.

Yes, whatever insincere agenda that Smerconish is enmeshed in, these two reports from the very same day makes Barack Obama out to be a liar when he says his church isn’t radical, isn’t a “crackpot church.” It is a radical church filled with anti-white, anti-American, anti-Jew crackpots lead by a racist, loudmouthed hatemonger.

There just isn’t any gray area here.
