A vintage video produced in 1942 showing how General Motors contributed to the war effort before the “Wussification of America.”

    United States Marine Corps Video

    Hat Tip: OPFOR

I worked with many of America’s Marines while I was in the U.S. Army and I have the utmost respect for them. The Marines sure do know how to make a great commercial! The U.S. Marines are one of the last bastions against the “Wussification of America”.

Ty Cobb Jr. Claims to be Conservative Yet Endorses McCain

Nevada Assemblyman Ty Cobb Jr. was elected in the very conservative District 26 by claiming to be a staunch conservative. By endorsing Senator John McCain in his candidacy for President, Ty Cobb is not sustaining a conservative reputation. Senator McCain has been on the Democrat side of many debates including amnesty for illegal aliens, not sustaining the Bush tax cuts and the “Gang of 14″ in the U.S. Senate. The action that proves John McCain is not conservative was initiating and promoting for the McCain-Feingold legislation which is among the most blatantly unconstitutional legislation ever passed.

Ty Cobb was once my opponent during the District 26 primary election which he won handily. I have supported him on some occasions such as when he cast the only vote against the Democrat Nevada Assembly Speaker in 2007.

One must judge people, not by their words but by their actions. Unfortunately, Ty Cobb’s actions in endorsing Senator John McCain and hosting a wine-tasting event for him here in Reno, Nevada, indicate a willingness to disregard the First Amendment to the Constitution just as when Cobb took a position against ballot initiatives during his District 26 Assembly campaign.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is as follows (emphasis mine):

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

What part of “Congress shall make no law” does John McCain not understand? And does Ty Cobb Jr. understand that endorsing McCain does not make one appear to be conservative?

Newt Gingrich Video Challenges Bush and Candidates to Make Real Change

Richard Disney | George Bush, National Politics, Newt Gingrich, Quotes, Richard Disney | Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Newt Gingrich coined the phrase, “Real change means REAL CHANGE!” In this video that is just over one minute long, Newt challenges President Bush not to wait until the next election for change but to announce changes to be accomplished in his upcoming State of the Union speech.

Freedom and Power Video Part 2

This video produced in 1952 uses less animation and more live action to show how electrical power and freedom are linked. This video shows how many advances in technology that were achieved during the life of a 75 year old man in 1952. A “house of the future” is shown from a 1952 perspective and I find it very interesting. My favorite quote is, “We are not a nation of destroyers. We are a nation of builders!” That is a true statement. Unfortunately there are many Americans born and raised who would ridicule this video and deny its point of view. If you love America, you will love this video.

If you don’t love America, this video will make you arrogantly laugh or get angry. Detractors of the United States want the U.S. weak and “wussified”.

One of the main goals of Environmental Collectivists is to shut down the motor of the world through ignorance and paranoia about the environment. To shut down the motor of the world the United States must be weak. For those who think the United States is bad or repressive, consider this: Millions of people would not risk their lives to get into the U.S. illegally if it were as bad as U.S. detractors say it is.

    Freedom and Power Video

An excellently produced animation produced in 1952 which shows that electricity and its multiple uses was developed by free individuals and that we are all freer today because of electrical power. This video is reminiscent of a time when it was encouraged to feel good about your country. It has everything great…guns, freedom, and technology in a time when America wasn’t so “wussified.” If you love America, this video will make your heart swell with pride and happiness. If you don’t like the United States, this video will make you have an aneurism. Enjoy.

The Secret of American Production Video

This film produced in 1955 by Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas breaks down very simply why the United States is so productive and has such a high standard of living. Notice that the instructor mentions the “Freedom TO” do things not the “Freedom FROM” doing things. Today Collectivists trumpet freedom from hunger not the freedom to produce more food. The “Freedom to” is liberty, the “Freedom from” is dependancy.

The Story of Our Flag; Colonial to 1938 Video

Richard Disney | Nostalgic Video, Richard Disney, Vintage Video, War and Peace, Wussification of America | Sunday, January 13th, 2008

The overview of flags used in the American Colonies and the United States of America from the earliest times to 1938. Unabashedly pro-American; I love it!

Capitalism is the real “agent of change”

Richard Disney | Business, Money, Socialism, capitalism | Saturday, January 12th, 2008

    Hat Tip: Bookworm Room

By MARK STEYN in the OC Register

This past week’s issue of the Economist has a heart-rending vignette from one of the most ruthlessly capitalist industries on the planet:

“In 2006 EMI, the world’s fourth-biggest recorded-music company, invited some teenagers into its headquarters in London to talk to its top managers about their listening habits. At the end of the session the EMI bosses thanked them for their comments and told them to help themselves to a big pile of CDs sitting on a table. But none of the teens took any of the CDs, even though they were free.”

“That was the moment we realized the game was completely up,” an EMI exec told the magazine. In the United States, album sales in 2007 were down 19 percent from 2006. Don’t blame me. I still buy plenty of CDs. But that’s because I like Doris Day, and every time I try to insert one of these newfangled MP3s into my fax machine it doesn’t seem to play. But if you’re not Mister Squaresville, and you dig whatever caterwauling beat combo those London hep cats are digging on their iPods, chances are you find the local record store about as groovy as the Elks Lodge.

    Going Places Cartoon Video

Richard Disney | Business, Collectivism, Nostalgic Video, Quotes, Richard Disney, Socialism, Vintage Video, capitalism | Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Hat Tip: Bookworm. Thank you Bookworm for posting this cartoon!

Here is another gem of a cartoon produced in 1948 by Searcy College in Arkansas. This is a cartoon that should be shown in schools around the United States and probably would be but for the Collectivist bent of the educational establishment.

My friend Ed Morrissey at Captain’s Quarters blog was right on the money (as usual) when he encouraged me to dedicate a catagory of my blog to vintage nostalgic video content. There is a large community out there that shares my love of these video gems.
