My Favorite White House Staffer Resigns

bio_tony.jpgTony Snow. Class act. That says it all to me. It’s difficult to put into words how much admiration and respect I have for this man. He is intelligent and kind hearted. He has a way about him that makes you feel as though you’re good friends with him, even though you’ve never met. I’m glad he’s leaving the White House for his sake, but sad for the American people who get a kick out of watching him give David Gregory the slap down.

I emailed Tony at the White House back when he announced that his cancer had returned. Maybe some of you did the same? I received this reply, as I’m sure thousands of others did too, because Tony is a gracious individual:

THE WHITE HOUSE
Washington

Thank you for the wonderful email, and for including me in your
thoughts.

I have gotten hundreds of cards and emails from all over the country,
and I’m amazed and delighted by each and every one. The entire path of
my life over the last few years has taught me a very valuable lesson:
that blessings come in unexpected packages. Although I normally wouldn’t
consider cancer a blessing, it has brought forth acts of kindness from
friends and strangers-and helped me understand the real power of
kindness and concern. It is as if I had been hoisted on the shoulders of
others, who have taken up my burden, and raised me up, so I can look at
life from a new and wonderful perspective.

That’s one of the great things about being an American: people in this
country just want to do the right thing for others. And having been the
recipient of your kindness, I can assure you that I’m doing everything
in my power to learn from and emulate your example. Little gestures-a
call, an email, even a smile-can have enormous healing power, not just
on the person in need, but the person offering the encouragement. Isn’t
it great how we always feel better when we do the right things?

So thank you for strengthening my faith in the things that matter-and
from the bottom of my heart, thanks for taking the time to write to me.

What a great gift!

God bless,

TONY SNOW

HotAir links to Little Green Footballs reporting that the left is being as vile as ever over this. Ugh! I strongly dislike those hateful fools. I considered quoting the haters, but then decided I didn’t want their disgusting comments on this post. However, I do recommend clicking the links just so you never forget who the enemy is.

God Bless you Tony.

Comment of the Week!!

Yay!! It’s Friday and I’ve been slacking on Comment of the Week. We will resume play today.

This week’s honors will go to our favorite pachyderm from the Guess Who’s First post:

Well, as you know, you aren’t supposed to spank anyone in California, so how else is one supposed to impose discipline on those wild-child states?

Congrats to Wyoming. The primaries will be over by Halloween, at this rate. (Cripes, if Hillary wins the Dem primary, that’ll be a scare for everyone.)

That would be a scare for everyone Bridget!
Remember how to play:

  • Go back to your own blog and find your favorite comment that someone left you

Guess Who’s First! (For Now)

wyoming-logo.gifIf you’re guessing New Hampshire … wrong! It’s us baby … here in Wyoming. :)

From the Casper Star Tribune:

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Wyoming Republicans have jumped to the head of the pack in the nominating process, moving their delegate-selection conventions to Jan. 5 before even Iowa or New Hampshire vote.

While the move puts Wyoming first in the accelerated primary process, it is not expected to stay there as states continue to jockey for position. At stake for Wyoming Republicans on Jan. 5 will be 12 delegates to the national convention.

“We’re first in the nation,” said Tom Sansonetti, the state party’s 2008 county convention coordinator. “At least for the next couple, three weeks until New Hampshire and Iowa move, which I expect they will.”

Wyoming Republicans made the decision Saturday and announced it Monday.

The ever-changing contest schedule _ and the earlier start to the balloting _ has created an enormous level of discomfort for national parties trying to impose discipline on the states as well as presidential campaigns trying to figure out strategies when voting could begin in just four months.

As a deterrence, the Republican National Committee insists they will penalize states that schedule nominating contests before Feb. 5 by withholding half of their delegates to the conventions next summer.

Wyoming doesn’t have caucuses or primaries. Instead,

Law firm will consider legal action against Rep. John Murtha

From OneNewsNow.com. I don’t know about you, but I believe the Thomas More Law Center is worth supporting any way we can.

A Christian law firm hopes that once its client is cleared of charges in connection with the so-called Haditha massacre, it will consider legal action against one of the men responsible for the accusations: Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha.

The Michigan-based Thomas More Law Center is representing Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani (USMC), who has been charged with not fully investigating the events at Haditha, Iraq, and failing to report a Law of War violation, in the aftermath of the November 19, 2005, incident that led to the death of 24 Iraqi civilians. Spokespersons for the legal group hope the convening officer in the investigation will throw out the charges as he already has for two of the six other men charged in the case. Chessani is the highest ranking officer charged in the case.

Congressman Murtha, a prominent war critic, last year accused U.S. Marines of shooting and killing unarmedrepresentative_john_murtha_d-pa.jpg civilians near the scene of an attack on a military convoy, then going into two homes and shooting others. According to Brian Rooney with the Law Center, Staff Sergeant Frank Wuterich — one of the other defendants in the investigation — is already suing Murtha for those comments. Rooney argues the Pennsylvania Democrat should be held accountable for taking the word of Iraqi insurgents and calling the Marines “cold-blooded murderers.”

“Staff Sergeant Wuterich’s attorneys are suing Congressman Murtha for liable for saying that the Marines were cold-blooded murderers, so that suit’s still ongoing,” the attorney explains, adding that the Law Center….

Vick Enters Guilty Plea

This just in (at least as far as I’m aware):

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback arrived at the federal courthouse in a sport utility vehicle Monday and walked into court flanked by his attorneys. His supporters erupted in a roaring cheer drowning out his opponents, silently holding signs.

First of all, how atrocious to be cheering for someone who is admitting to animal abuse of the worst kind? Sorry, I’m a die hard Ann Coulter fan, but if she was pleading guilty to something this heinous, I’d drop her like a hot potato! I’m so glad I only have to stand by her when she uses words like faggot. :) …. Continue reading ‘Vick Enters Guilty Plea’

Vick Suspended Indefinitely by the NFL

Allah continues updating over at HotAir, and since I work at a job that normally doesn’t include blogging and need to be spending time with my husband who will be leaving for TX in the morning, I’m just stealing Allah’s updates. Though, I’ve been told it’s not really stealing if I properly credit him.

From ESPN there is a link to the entire letter from Roger Goodell sent to Vick. I find the entire letter interesting, but the best part is:

“Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible” and regardless whether henfl_goodell_65.jpg personally placed bets, “your actions in funding the betting and your association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of your NFL player contract and expose you to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player.”

Goodell went on to say:

“You have engaged in conduct detrimental to the welfare of the NFL and have violated the league’s personal conduct policy,” Goodell told Vick in a letter after meeting in New York with Falcons president and general manager Rich McKay.

“You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy,” Goodell wrote. “I hope that you will be able to learn from this difficult experience and emerge from it better prepared to act responsibly and to make the kinds of choices that are expected of a conscientious and law abiding citizen.”

Vic Accepts Plea

UPDATE (08/24/07): Bumped up to today.

No time to post it — Allah has it over at HotAir. Looks like Vic will most likely get it easier than anticipated — and I anticipated it would be pretty easy in the first place. Well, at least he’ll be able to get back to throwing the football quicker. /sarcasm

From FoxSports:

Twenty-five days after he declared that he looked forward to clearing his name, Vick said through defense lawyer Billy Martin that he will plead guilty. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.

“Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made,” Martin said in a statement. “Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter.”

nm_vick_070717_ms.jpgApparently clearing his good name just isn’t going to work out. Shocked? I’m not. I am getting a little sick of beating this dead horse, but I started blogging this story several months ago and intend to see it through. Is it just me, or is the MSM making animal abuse sound less and less hideous?

The NFL noted in a statement that the Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s admission wasn’t in line with what he told commissioner Roger Goodell shortly after being charged.

“We totally condemn the conduct outlined in the charges, which is inconsistent with what Michael VickFalcons,” the NFL said. previously told both our office and the Falcons,” the NFL said.

The league, which barred Vick from training camp, said it has asked the Falcons to withhold further action while the NFL’s own investigation wraps up.

Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players Association, said in a statement:

“We believe the criminal conduct to which Mr. Vick has pled guilty today cannot be condoned under any circumstances. Speaking personally, as I have previously stated, the practice of dog fighting is offensive and completely unacceptable. I can only hope that Mr. Vick, who is young man, will learn from this awful experience.”

If you’re interested in the entire article, click on the FoxSports link above. For now, let’s just end this post with some views from a scumbag defense attorney:

Another defense attorney, James D. “Butch” Williams Jr., alluded to the harsh public backlash against Vick since the July 17 indictment detailed the abuse of dogs on Vick’s property in Surry County, Va.

“Michael is a father, he’s a son, he’s a human being — people oftentimes forget that,” he said, adding that Vick is “very remorseful.”

“Nobody’s been rougher on Mike than Mike’s been on himself,” Williams said.

Do you think Michael really regrets his dog abusing / killing tendencies? Or, could it just possibly be that he thought he was now above the law and the only thing he regrets is finding out he’s not and that he got caught?

Imagine That — Pedophiles Dating Single Moms to get at the Children.

Who would have thunk it? Well, call me crazy, but I would have. I just have this insane expectation for mothers to use the brain that God gave them. As a disclaimer, I want to note that I really admire the one mother used as an example in this article for coming forward, hoping others might learn from her stupidity. Still, I think too many people in society are selfish and put their own desires for lust and companionship above the safety and well being of their children. That’s right, I think this problem boils down to selfishness and stupidity.

From ABC News:

Some Sexual Predators Troll Internet Dating Sites for Single Parents

Aug. 23, 2007 —

More than 20 million Americans log on to their computers each month looking for love, according to Online Dating Magazine.

While getting to know a potential mate from the privacy of their home may be comforting to some, especially single women getting back in the dating pool, it is not without danger. A growing number of sexual predators and pedophiles are taking advantage of online anonymity and using dating sites to prey on single mothers and their children.

One single mother, who asked that her identity be withheld to protect her daughter, had such an experience.

She met her future husband online and within in six months…

Comment of the Week!

Yay!!! It’s Friday!!! Normally, I prepost Comment of the Week, but I’m belting this one out as I watch TSA open my luggage and go through it at the airport.

We’ve had some commenting problems with WordPress over the last couple of days, but we’re not going to let that spoil the fun. Also, keep in mind that I’m traveling, so I might not be able to make it to the spam compacter very regularly. Be patient, maybe Tieki Rae will have mercy and keep an eye on the filter today for me. (Hint Tieki.)

This week I am thankful for my new customized theme created by MommyZabs. However, the generosity of others always makes me emotional. Therefore, comment of the week goes to Kevin for offering to yet again, customize my header:

Here’s my suggestion. Feel free to use it! ;)

Vick Must Decide Whether to Accept Plea Agreement

I guess my question would be why? Others have already been given pleas for their testimonies against Vick. Apparently, playing the race card is paying off.

That comes on the heels of news that co-defendants Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips are scheduled to appear in federal court in Richmond at the end of the week and are expected to accept their own plea agreements. Peace’s hearing is at 9 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, while Phillips will appear on Friday at the same time. Plea agreements would clear them to testify against Vick.

You can read the entire article at ESPN, but I thought this paragraph was cute:

In a Richmond, Va., court in late July, Vick pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities, and conspiring to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. He said in a written statement that he looked forward to “clearing my good name.” He also pleaded with the public to resist a rush to judgment.

Good luck with clearing your good name Michael. In the meantime, I think the team is ready to move on without the gangsta:

“I don’t think anybody on this team right now is hoping that Mike comes back,” Dunn said. “If he comes back, that’s great, but I just think right now we’re at point where the guys that are here are trying to get better and move on down the road. Mike is going to be missed and has been missed, but at the same time you have to go on.”

Later dude — you had your chance. Now’s the time to put that college education to work for yourself. ;)
