A very good friend, MommyZabs, from Motherhood is not a cussword, has started an additional blog. Because my family has made a decision to make a conscious effort to avoid buying products from China, we will use this new site as a valuable resource. Most of my readers are familiar with MommyZabs, but if not, I highly recommend her writing and topics. While I’m at it, how about a free plug for her father, Steve, at Next Stop Lauderdale. Brilliant family. Awesome bloggers.
UPDATE: It’s a contest with the winner to be drawn on Monday, August 2oth! Spread the word by entering the contest with a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to American Apparel.

“make a conscious effort to avoid buying products from China”
Good luck with that. lol. I will wait to see how it turns out.
Watch and learn Mr. Kaiser.
chinanotmade link doesn’t work :(.
Hi Kevin,
I know, MommyZabs had the site up and going and then went to retrieve some comments from the spam filter and her site crashed. She’s really been working hard on it — she said her cousins are trying to help her figure it out as I type this. Poor girl.
Hey everyone!
First off thank you tammi for given my site some publicity. AND for giving avoiding china product a chance. John- it is hard, but not completely impossible.
On the site being down. I am not sure what happened, but I am switching hosts so It could be another 12 hours before it is up at the latest… What a bummer. Please be patient anyone who has tried the link and it has not worked. I have a fun contest that will be going on !!! I would love all to get involved.
Thanks again Tammi
It’s up now!!!
Hi MZ,
Which hosts, if I may be so bold, were you and are you using?
the Grit
Well, great…just great!!
I had been shopping for a new monitor for several months, comparing features and prices, and have been going to various electronic retail sale stores, and looking.
Armed with as much info as I could retain in my noodle, I started pulling the boxes out of the shelves, and looking for the “Made In” labels. Every.stinking.name.brand.you.can.think.of.is.Made.In.China.
Everyone! Gateway? Yep! Acer? Oh, yeah! And the list goes on.
For the past several years, since reading Jeff Head’s series, Dragon’s Fury, I have been boycotting anything made in China, but when it came to buying a new monitor, they had me by the short and curlies. I plan on replacing my computer before the year is out, and will use Mommy Zabs site as a reference.
BTW, I do love my new widescreen LCD monitor…but it still irks me, where it is made.
NO2LIBERALS! Very cool you have been doing this awhile!!! that pamphlet/book is so great, I’m reading it now and trying to figure out a way to offer pdf download of it on my site (need to make some calls i think :)). The reason you mentioned is one of the many that I can’t say 100% boycott. The point is doing our best and making every effort though. The problem of everyone Manuf. there is so huge it is virtually impossible to go 100%. I admire you for trying though. I have to figure out where my .mac was made!
ALSO- Even my BIBLE was made in China. C’mon now!
GRIT!
I’m up and running now. I was on blue host, but found out it was not their fault. A plugin I installed had a script problem. I am now back on my friends server though. I didn’t want to ask him for more space, but when he realized I had launched a site he told me I could, so I switched
Mommy Zabs, everything has a “Made In” tag…somewhere. For electronics, it is always on the box. Let us know if your mac isn’t made in China…might make my new ‘puter shopping simpler.
Click around on Jeff Head’s site, and look at where all the money is going. The naval build-up is unprecedented, and is purposeful.
I sense the beginning of a beautiful relationship. With MommyZabs’ new NotChinaMade blog, linking to other resourceful material, and all of us working together — we can make a difference.
One key for me is to look at the clothing tags before trying something on. Because I have to admit, if it fits well and makes me look hot
it’s hard to resist purchasing. Therefore, I’ll be checking the tag first in an attempt to avoid that little temptation.
That’s what you gotta do, Tammi.
I was looking at some new towels, not long ago, and saw some nice looking fluffy towels, with a nice design, and good price. I checked the label…dropped them, and walked away.
You can do it too…just walk away.
I’m a gonna try
You were sure strong to resist that fluffy towel temptation — you should be proud.
Tammi……….you are too kind, thanks or the plug……steve
