Comment of the Week!

Yay!!! It’s Friday!!! Normally, I prepost Comment of the Week, but I’m belting this one out as I watch TSA open my luggage and go through it at the airport.

We’ve had some commenting problems with WordPress over the last couple of days, but we’re not going to let that spoil the fun. Also, keep in mind that I’m traveling, so I might not be able to make it to the spam compacter very regularly. Be patient, maybe Tieki Rae will have mercy and keep an eye on the filter today for me. (Hint Tieki.)

This week I am thankful for my new customized theme created by MommyZabs. However, the generosity of others always makes me emotional. Therefore, comment of the week goes to Kevin for offering to yet again, customize my header:

Here’s my suggestion. Feel free to use it! ;)

Remember how to play:

  • Go back to your own blog and find your favorite comment that someone left you
  • Copy it and bring it back here and post it in the comments of this post
  • Please feel free to link back to your blog /post where the comment took place and also the commenter’s blog.
  • If your comment gets caught in the moderation queue, call me. Just kidding! I have a new plugin that should let you through the spam filter, even with the links! We’ll see, huh?
  • Okay — please play! Show some love!

    Haha… I don’t know why you didn’t choose Kevin’s over MZ! ;)

My comment of the week is from Kevin on “American Universities Reject British Boycott”:

If even Columbia is opposing it, then this is a very good sign indeed. Columbia University is the hippiest of hippie that hippieland has to offer. My friend’s Dad is a professor there (well, Barnard College, actually), and if you put him next to a Grateful Dead type hippie, the GD guy would appear to be wearing a suit and tie in comparison to the ultra-hippieness that is a Columbia professor.

My point is really just that if uber-liberal Columbia won’t bow to this racist boycott, no college in America will. But any chance to disparage a hippie… I’m taking it.

Hehe, I feel like Bucky Katt now :)

Interesting side story… to me anyway. My best-friend did end up going to Columbia, and stayed liberal as heck the whole time he was there. But then he went for an MBA at Cornell, and came back a conservative! He still spouts the liberal rhetoric, but you can tell he no longer believes it. He HATES it when I mention to him that Cornell fixed him, so guess what I do often?:)

Hah. Sorry for running on so long.

Anytime someone says Cornell is conservative, a little part of my heart grows warm again! :)

    Here’s mine.

Boarshide on my post Brass Cojones

I believe that the average American is too busy working, making dinner, paying bills, putting kids to bed and after getting home from work turns on the MSM tv and opens the propaganda papers and is not fully aware of the silent creeping fungus that is illegal immigration, left wing lunacy, political correctness, right is wrong, wrong is right because it isn’t really in their back yard. Americans feel safe because the disaster is not outside their door. I look outside right now, it’s, dark, warm, dogs barking, crickets chirping, kids laughing, I can’t see the danger, but i know it’s out there…

Love the new theme. Custom themes are amazing, if a little bit more headache prone.

My favorite quote was from Maggie in response to The Citizens Have had Enough http://cavmom.wordpress.com/2007/08/16/the-citizens-have-had-enough/

…What would have happened in the third year of our own Civil War when General Grant’s forces suffered 66,000 casaulties in 6-weeks of the Overland Campaign if President Lincoln had called a halt to the fighting and withdrawn the Union forces from Virginia? Between 1861 and 1865 3% of the population - 970,000 people - were killed; 620,000 were soldier deaths. Should Lincoln have pulled the Union troops north of the Mason-Dixon line? I imagine that’s what his media advisers and the polls would have wanted. …

Hi Tammi & friends - my favorite quote was from Woz, someone I met on another blog and with whom I’ve exchanged many comments and emails.

The post was about the bizarre there-is-no-truth types. I quoted a guy who says all sorts of incoherent things. Sadly, he appears to be college educated and calls himself a Christian, yet thinks Islam, etc. are just as valid. Of course he doesn’t believe the Bible.

Anyway, this guy called me a fundamentalist (in the bad sense) and Woz responded with: “I didn’t know you were a Christian fundamentalist???? Is that what it’s called now when you actually believe the Bible?”

Hey Tammi, I FINALLY put your footer up, It wasn’t hard as I imagined it would be with out c-panal access :) Hope you like!

Neil~ I love it and plan to borrow that quote for the next time I am bashed.

  8. 8 Kevin

Yay! Does the winner get a free weeklong vacation to Jackson Hole or something? ;)

  9. 9 Velvet Hammer

Did someone say Jackson Hole? I could sure use a vacation. :D

  10. 10 WOZ

    Hello Folks,

If you visit Jackson Hole, make sure to go to the Mangy Moose. May be the neatest place this side of heaven :>).

    On a side note Tammi.
I was just able to comment with out any problems. (See above)
Nuke’s spam filter did not snag me either.
I used my alternate URL. as I am now.
On WordPress.com blogs I need to log out and do the same. What a pain. I was successful over at Doc Bulldogs.

Have a great rest of the weekend all!

THANKS for all the participation even with me not being around to moderate!

Tieki — What is wrong with this picture that we BOTH chose Kevin this week? ;)

Velvet — I remember reading that comment at your blog. Thanks for bringing it over. It’s the truth.

Thanks Matt — My desire is to learn a little more about customizing my theme. MZ has done such a great job, I really don’t have worry about customizing now because she has me spoiled with a great looking theme. :)

    Hi CavMom,
Boy, if that’s not something uncomfortable to think about. Maggie has a great point — I’m glad that Grant suffered through and didn’t surrender as quickly as the Dems today would love to!

    Hi Neil,
So that’s how they’re referring to people who actually believe the Bible. :) Crazy.

MommyZabs — The footer looks FANTASTIC! :)

Kevin — looks like you’re going to have to talk to WOZ for that Jackson trip. Good luck — just make sure you hit the Mangy Moose. :) By the way — it’s almost like you’ve won twice since Tieki Rae brought your comment from her place over. :)

Velvet — what do you think? Could we talk Eric into planning a Conservablog Conference in Jackson next year? I say we aim for July when the white water rafting is at its best. :)

    Hi WOZ,
I’ve been to Jackson a few times, but what’s the Mangy Moose? and does it involve food? :)

  13. 13 WOZ

    Hi Tammi,

Mangy Moose is a store on Main street right across from the square in the center of town where they sell all kinds of stuff with a really neat moose logo plus a lot of other things. Also has a restaurant next door. They have a website where you can get a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about. Think it’s mangymoose.com. Our family loves it.

  14. 14 Tammi

    Hi WOZ,
I’m confident I’m been there, not the restaurant part though. I’ll check out the website. :)

  15. 15 John

Wow, look at all these comments. Congrats.

  16. 16 Kevin

Funny thing is, we ARE going to Jackson Hole in early March of next year. I’m an avid skier, so I laid down the law and demanded that we went there for vacation (well, begged and pleaded. Same thing). It’s very exciting since I haven’t been to Wyoming since I was 8.

I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas. I hope your state’s slopes stand up to Colorado’s and (God’s gift to skiers) Utah’s.

Another side note: I saw snow for the first time ever in your very own state when I was 6 yrs old. Oddly enough, it was in June! It’s been a love story ever since. POWDER!

  17. 17 Kevin

Something’s wrong with your commenting :(. It hangs up after clicking submit. Someone in the know should look into it. Just FYI.

  18. 18 Kevin

also fyi, sphere.com seems to be the culprit. but I could be wrong.

  19. 19 Tammi

    Hi Kevin,
Yes, Jackson should be able to compete quite nicely with Colorado and Utah. :)

Should I disable the sphere plug in? I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the heads up.

  20. 20 Tammi

    Hi John,
I know! I love getting the comments. :) And all these when I’m still out of town. I hope it continues as I get home. :)
