Allah continues updating over at HotAir, and since I work at a job that normally doesn’t include blogging and need to be spending time with my husband who will be leaving for TX in the morning, I’m just stealing Allah’s updates. Though, I’ve been told it’s not really stealing if I properly credit him.
From ESPN there is a link to the entire letter from Roger Goodell sent to Vick. I find the entire letter interesting, but the best part is:
“Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible” and regardless whether he
personally placed bets, “your actions in funding the betting and your association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of your NFL player contract and expose you to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player.”
Goodell went on to say:
Sphere: Related Content“You have engaged in conduct detrimental to the welfare of the NFL and have violated the league’s personal conduct policy,” Goodell told Vick in a letter after meeting in New York with Falcons president and general manager Rich McKay.
“You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy,” Goodell wrote. “I hope that you will be able to learn from this difficult experience and emerge from it better prepared to act responsibly and to make the kinds of choices that are expected of a conscientious and law abiding citizen.”

It’s good to see the NFL commissioner take charge of the league and clean house. He certainly has the look to play the part of an Old West Sheriff. Hopefully, he’ll stay consistent and won’t be fired for being “so cruel” to his players.
True story Scott. Seems like there is a lot of trash that could be cleaned up within the club. I mean really, do they want it to continue heading in the same direction as the NBA?
Hey, I was reading my cuteoverload.com feed and came across this post that I thought you (and your readers) might enjoy.
No soft kronsche here!
Very cute Tieki.
At least this isn’t much of a loss to football. The guy was a mediocre quarterback at best. Basically Kordell Stewart, but just a bit better. And we all know how it turned out for Kordell. Or maybe it was Cordell. See what I mean?
I agree John. Really, what has he done for the Falcons besides flip the bird to their fans? Not much. There are plenty of talented QBs to go around. Well, not as talented as the Manning boys, but still enough.
hey girly!..I still think they ought to do to him what he did to those poor animals!
I got a new post up. I know you’ve been waiting…lol.
Hi Angel,
I heard something last night about the Falcons being allowed to go after a 20 some million dollar signing bonus they gave Vick. I think that’s terrific. A thug in society is bad enough, but you give one millions of $$$ and it becomes a worse problem. With any luck, his defense attorneys will suck him dry financially. Though, the NAACP might start footing his bills too.
Hi John –
GREAT! I’ll head over there when I return from church. Hope you and the girls have a wonderful Sunday.
We move from Janet Jackson to Michael Vic. Good to see that the NFL is trying to have a good image. There’s no reason for athletes to conduct themselves with anything but dignity and grace.
Tammi………Susan and I were talking today that this jerk sacrificed a $120 million contract and now looks at having to return a $22 million signing bonus. What kind of idiot would let that “roll” on a stupid bet on any illegal activity. Some people are too dumb to deserve those kind of resources. I agree with Bridget, these guys should be kissing the ground with gratitude and good behavior for having the opportunities that the lottery of life has dealt them……..steve
I know Bridget … I do feel bad for the good guys who really don’t get much press for exemplifying the character they do on a normal basis. In reality, the good guys probably like it that way. Makes it easier to focus on being the superb athletes they are.
Hi Steve,
Yes, I think we actually need a stronger word than stupid to describe throwing everything away like Vick did. Maybe John will drop by with a word for us.
