Vick Enters Guilty Plea

This just in (at least as far as I’m aware):

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback arrived at the federal courthouse in a sport utility vehicle Monday and walked into court flanked by his attorneys. His supporters erupted in a roaring cheer drowning out his opponents, silently holding signs.

First of all, how atrocious to be cheering for someone who is admitting to animal abuse of the worst kind? Sorry, I’m a die hard Ann Coulter fan, but if she was pleading guilty to something this heinous, I’d drop her like a hot potato! I’m so glad I only have to stand by her when she uses words like faggot. :) ….

Second of all, how difficult is it to drown out his opponents, silently holding signs?

In his written plea filed in federal court Friday, Vick admitted helping kill six to eight pit bulls and supplying money for gambling on the fights. He said he didap_vick_070827_ms.jpg not personally place any bets or share in any winnings.

If Monday’s proceedings follow the pattern of his three co-defendants, Vick’s plea hearing will be brief, with the judge setting a sentencing hearing for late fall after a background report is completed.

The plea agreement calls for a sentencing range of 12 to 18 months. But Hudson, who is known for handing down tough sentences, is not bound by any recommendation or federal sentencing guidelines and could sentence Vick to as much as five years in prison.

After initially denying his involvement, Vick has said little publicly about the case. Privately, he met with Goodell and Falcons owner Arthur Blank when the investigation was just beginning, and almost certainly lied to both.

Vick’s defense attorney, Billy Martin, has said Vick will “explain his actions” publicly, but did not say when. The “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” a syndicated program based in Dallas, said it will have a live interview with Vick on Tuesday, and he will take questions from callers.

I wish the Falcons the best. Hopefully they can convince their fans that there are other quarterbacks in the sea.

I heard snippets of his apology. I was shocked to hear that he knew he set a poor example for the children that look(ed) up to him. Hopefully the judge throws the book at him so that the kiddos know you don’t get off easy with that kind of brutality.

Meanwhile, the Falcons want their quarter back, well, $22 million anyway

    Hi Scott,

That’s funny — yeah, I watched the video too. I’m glad he is at least stepping up to the plate and saying he was wrong. Still, I question the ability of rehabilitation on someone who does such brutal acts. For the sake of man’s best friend I really do hope he’s sincere and realizes how cruel that freaking sport of dog fighting is.

My dad said he saw a report that Canada banned Vick from joining their football league. I checked it out. So long as he’s banned/suspended from the NFL, so he is from the CFL:

In response to media inquiries regarding the possibility of Michael Vick playing in the CFL, I would like to clarify that any NFL players, who are currently under contract or serving a suspension, are prohibited from signing a CFL player contract as outlined by the League’s governing documents.
