Working for the state

money_management.jpgThe Casper Star Tribune has published a list of state employees who make as much, if not more than the governor. I think it would be interesting if some of my blogger friends from other states could find similar lists for their own states and we could compare. I’m not sure how often the Tribune publishes these salaries, but I bet it’s the talk of break rooms across the state.

So, which ones do you find the most absurd? Who seems underpaid? I’m anxiously awaiting your opinions.

I can sort of understand doctors, psychiatrists, and lawyers (although they should still make less than in the private sector; such is the nature of the beast); however, it is INSANE. I’m moving to Wyoming and getting myself a job as the director of travel and tourism.

Is this a complete list? I find it hard to believe that Superintendent of Public Instruction Jim McBride makes less than Deputy superintendent of public instruction Joseph Simpson ($142,425).

No you don’t Bridget — I’m throwing my hat in the ring for that one! Sounds like a fun job! :)

    Hi Scott,

I think it’s complete … feel free to double check me by clicking on the CST link.

If you could get appointed to one of these positions, you could probably quit your other jobs. :)

Probably? More like absolutely with the benefit of signing my “declaration of debt independence” :-)

Jusat checked the CST article and you have everything on their list. I did find this quote at the beginning to be interesting:

The list excludes the University of Wyoming, community colleges and public schools.

Do you think it’s too late to switch career tracks? I want to be a psychiatrist.

No, this would be the ideal time. ;) Just kidding! I think being President of the United States pays a smidgen better.
