I hope I never take the Congressional people for granted that Wyoming sends to Washington. I feel sorry for conservatives in other states who have critters in Congress such as John F. Kerry, and Ted Kennedy for their elected representatives.

The Senate approved an amendment attaching the hate-crimes legislation to a wide-ranging defense bill by voice vote Thursday. Wyoming’s two Republican senators, Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, voted against moving forward with the legislation.
Barrasso, who succeeded the late Sen. Craig Thomas earlier this year, and Enzi have consistently objected to hate-crimes legislation, saying that all victims should be treated equally. Both said they opposed combining the legislation with bill that authorizes military spending.
“(Democrats are) in charge of getting critical bills through, yet they are delaying passage of these bills by trying to empty their outbox full of controversial issues,” Enzi said.
Barrasso said that victims suffer no matter what the motivation is for a crime.
“Criminal offenses such as these should be treated and prosecuted in an impartial manner,” he said. “Congress should focus on creating laws that protect all Americans equally and justly.”
Under current federal law, hate crimes apply to acts of violence against individuals on the basis of race, religion, color or national origin. The bill would extend the hate crimes category to include sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability and give federal authorities greater leeway to participate in hate crime investigations.
Must be difficult trying to get any work done when you work with rats.

Yay. I’m not for beating up on the most vulnerable among us, or the social outcasts, but I don’t like the idea of deciding crimes based upon the identity of the victim.
Thing is with liberals: they get their panties in a bundle when crimes are prosecuted or sentences are handed out on the basis of race. (See, Jena 6; death penalty stats for black-on-white crime, etc.) Because it’s not faiiir to mete out sentences based on the identity of the perpetrator or victim. Oddly, that is the raison d’etre of hate cirme legislation.
There’s an idea… maybe we can tell them that blacks get higher sentences for killing whites than other blacks because it’s a hate crime. Hee hee!

I don’t have what it takes to get her to see the light - I mean, when people start saying that fetuses arne’t even humans, what are you going to do? She finally, grudgingly, admitted that they aren’t jellyfish or flowers and are, indeed, members of the human species. But they are really potential humans, because they don’t have fully-functioning brains. Freakin Peter Singer wannabees make me wonder if the half of the human race that votes Democrat is sufficiently brain-dead to qualify under their own standards for super-late-term abortions.)

The Left throws a pansy-fit when people are prosecuted based on their identity and the identity of their victims. See, Jena 6 (or their version thereof), results of black-on-white crime in death penalty sentencing, the Duke lacrosse fiasco, etc. Oddly, the raison d’etre of hate crime legislation is to… drumroll… differentially prosecute and sentence people based upon the identities of the perpetrators and the victims.
It’s too hypocritical to make up. It belies satire.
Maybe we ought to just tell the loony leftists who defend child rapists/murderers that their enhanced penalty is part of hate crime legislation (targeted towards protecting women). Likewise, black-on-white crime is racial, too!
I’m a little ranty… I have a problem on my blog with a pro-choicer who thinks that fetuses aren’t human. It belies my powers of rational to reason with her. It took ages for me to work her around to the point where she would admit that embryos are not jellyfish or flowers - finally got to the point where she did state, grudgingly, that fetuses are members of the human race.
But wait! They aren’t human. Humans are self-aware, cognizant, and capable of understanding the human condition. Heaven only knows what she thinks of Down’s babies. I swear, these Peter Singer wannabees make me wonder if the half of the human race that votes Democrat is so freakin dense as to qualify for super-late-term abortions, as they certainly aren’t rational or sentient enough to qualify under their own defintion of “person.”

If Tieki Rae didn’t have a huge prelim today, she would probably have been over at your blog giving the pro-murder commenter the what for. Though, I haven’t checked … once in a while when she is overwhelmed and should be studying, she finds herself blogging and commenting more as a refined method of procrastination.

Kind of reminds me something that happened shortly after the Sox won the World Series. One friend griped about 86 years of waiting.
