Vet lauds female guard who felled gunman

A must read from the Denver Post:

Bourbonnais, who was among those shot by a gunman Sunday at New Life Church, watched as a security guard, a woman later identified as Jeanne Assam, calmly returned fire and killed the shooter.

“She just started walking toward the gunman firing the whole way,” said Bourbonnais, who was shot in the arm. “She was just yelling ‘Surrender,’ walking and shooting the whole time.”

Wow. Amazing first hand testimony. I recommend reading the entire article. It’s not very long and quite astonishing.

UPDATE: Would the MSM try and dig up dirt on this heroine? You bet they would!  Hat tip Lucianne poster.

The president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis says police were investigating a complaint that Assam swore at a bus driver while she was handling an incident on a city bus. He says Assam denied that she swore at the driver, but her actions were caught on tape.

Ruh Roh Shaggy! She swore?! I loved what one commenter at Lucianne had to say about this travesty:

Well I guess they did not fire her for a lack of coolness under fire or inability to hit a target under fire.
How does her past problem have an impact on her current behavior. Dirt throwing clowns.

I was wondering why the MSM wasn’t covering this much. It took them a bit to dig up some dirt. Freaking morons.  :)

Tammi……..Yeah, I just read this article in the Denver Post. This is quite amazing. Also (sidenote)……..I hadn’t realized this was Haggards church……..steve

    Hi Steve,

I think this lady is a true hero and could easily serve as an inspiration to other women to empower themselves. I love how feminists are always promoting self defense courses; marshall arts type training for women, but rarely do they encourage women to become trained with the ultimate equalizer.

Yes, this was Ted Haggard’s church, as the media believe this to be a vital fact to report in 9 out of 10 stories. Sorry, but as a Christian, I see that as so irrelevant. There is so much more to this wonderful church than the scandal that rocked it.

I feel so horrible for what they are going through now. Really, in comparison to the loss they have suffered, I think it puts the Haggard ordeal in a meaningless perspective. God bless them all as they start the healing process.

Wow, I know I can’t be the one to judge the TWO MALE ARMED SECURITY GUARDS who did not shoot the gunman, but wow. There has to be some kind of punishment for that. You can’t be given a weapon and charged with protecting a community of hundreds and sometimes thousands of people and then freeze when it comes time to actually save lives. I’m glad this Bourbonnais guy called the gunman a “S***head.” That was a little friendlier than I might have been.

    Hi Tieki,

I actually feel bad for the two security guards who did not fire. We might not ever really know the exact circumstances. Many things, including fear, might have played a role in this. I really see God’s hand in using the lady that did take the killer down. Like Esther, it was such a time as this that God had planned to use her to save his people.

Leave it to the MSM to go after the heroine. Can’t have any uppity, Christian, gun-toting people going around stopping mass murderers, can we?

Everyone is flawed. And fired for lying about swearing? Not too big a deal in my book. And as for God, doesn’t he prefer choosing those among us who have sinned–not the self-righteous–to demonstrate forgiveness?

    Hi El Presidente,

I guess you haven’t heard? Only the police can stop mass murderers. Call 911 and wait for them. I’m sure glad this lady didn’t wait on the police, even though the left will despise her for it.

I’m waiting for Tieki Rae to see this update. She tends to get all the mean snotty bus drivers whenever she has to take public transportation. This might make Ms. Amman even more of a hero in her eyes. :)

Just like the Blues Brothers, she was on a mission from God.
She stopped major mayhem that this nut job had planned.
One side note, to the young man who was killed, Mr. Crouse. His was one of those stories that the LameStreamMedia doesn’t want to report. A former skinhead from Alaska, that learned to love and not hate, and now he rests with the Lord, a saved soul.

    Hi no2liberals,
Good hearing from you again. She certainly was on a mission from God.

Young Mr. Crouse certainly did have a wonderful testimony. I’m sure his family and friends have to find comfort in that.

Take care and Have a Merry Christmas.
