Because we came at the tail end of the primary season, I eventually learned that the Republican race was kind of a mud slinging one. Because our primaries are in August, not quite enough time had passed in the Republican camp to get over hurt feelings from the primary. So, I guess many of the Republicans from the losing Republican camp were bitter and either didn't vote or else voted for the <em>moderate</em> demonRat.
