President Bush Honors General Pace … Homosexual Activist Groups Have Conniption Fit

From OneNewsNow:

Aren’t you glad they’re the tolerant ones?

President Bush is honoring a retired Marine General who came under attack from radical homosexual groups for calling that lifestyle immoral. Pro-homosexual groups, notes one veteran observer, are “going nuclear” about the award.

President Bush has honored General Peter Pace with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award- and Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness says the award is richly deserved.

In May 2007, Pace told the Chicago Tribune: “I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts, including adultery.” That upset groups like the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays.

How many adulterers are pitching fits about the General’s judgments?

“The ensuing criticism caused him to forego another term as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but President George Bush has chosen to honor him with this special award,” says Donnelly. “Now we have two homosexual activist groups going nuclear, using nasty epithets aimed at the general ….”

She says the reaction of the two groups demonstrates that they – not General Pace – are intolerant. “The reaction of these two groups, in my opinion, is disrespectful to millions of people who do not share their views,” chides Donnelly. “These groups claim to advocate tolerance, but the attitude of the [LGBT individuals] … take intolerance to an extreme.”

Donnelly commends President Bush for not being afraid to honor a man who publicly stood for morality in the face of such criticism.

You have to admit, little moments like must these make serving your last term as President a good time.  :)

Good for the president. It is nice to be reminded of the convictions he does have. Of course any libiot activist group thinks their own little cause trumps anything someone might have done to receive an honor.

I think so too Sam. Hopefully we’ll see more actions like this from the President as he finishes out his last term.

I have a sticker on the rear window of my car…the international red circle with red slash through the word “whining”.

I’m guessing picking this subject to generate press coverage of claims of being picked on was unwisely chosen, like the California marriage mess.

Passively making the destruction of traditional marriage, by allowing radical gays to feel less deviant by becoming “married”, won’t happen without a large scale, nationwide brawl.

The General, being a man of conviction and courage, is hopefully pleased that someone noticed he did the right thing here. Well done, sir.

It warms my heart to see them upset. Good on you, Gen. Pace!

    Hi Hank and DI :)

I agree — good for the General. Well done indeed.

Well, I’m one of those who frankly doesn’t give a rat’s patootie if gay people want to live in monogamous, committed relationships.

Nevertheless, the criticism is misplaced. The man is being honoured for his service to the country and his deep commitment to morality, not for The Political Correctness Award of 2008. Libertarian that I am, I still cannot see anything but good in this: the General’s actions are consistent with those of a man who wakes up in the morning and decides to be the best person he can be. That is the mark of a fundamentally decent human, whose accomplishments ought to be celebrated and who honours America by letting us honour him.

How many adulterers are pitching fits about the General’s judgments?

Happier question: How many victims of adultery are cheering him on? How many chaste women whose husbands brought home STDs are thrilled to have this man as a leader? How many families that have been ruined, how many spouses who have lost financially and emotionally to an illegitimate child of their spouse and some floozy, are thrilled that someone has finally called out evil for what it is?

Great points, Bridget. The whole adultery angle was completely lost on people.
