Flier Blasts TSA Over Piercings Removal

I think it is fairly common to get selected for special screening by TSA when we fly. However, I’m having a difficult time mustering any sympathy for the whiny lady flying from Lubbock to Dallas who was forced to remove her sensitive nipple rings. Am I being biased and judgmental? Probably, but who cares?

How bad could it be when:

Hamlin was publicly humiliated and has “undergone an enormous amount of physical pain to have the nipple rings reinserted” because of scar tissue, Allred said.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think it was medically necessary to reinsert the little metal bars?!

Was TSA wrong? Again, who cares? Freaky people with rings in their nipples slowing down security at the airport are a pet peeve of mine. Sheesh people! Get a clue!

Comment of the Week

Score! It’s Friday and I start my Thanksgiving vacation at 5 this afternoon.

Comment of the week goes out to No2liberals from the Left Winged Nuts Waterboard themselves post:knutcute.JPG

So, if I understand their demo, they are telling us that waterboarding is not torture, but agitprop?
What I found even more ridiculous, or exceeding the realm of audience comprehension, was the Admiral of the Chappaquidick ranting on the Senate floor, the horrors of waterboarding, and the horrid sensation of drowning.(!?!) What a dingus! As though Mary Jo Kopechne never existed.

In lieu of our normal rules, let’s play the Thanksgiving game at this post. Go there and comment, share your Thanksgiving plans, or even your favorite comments from the week from your own blog. It’s open game. Have a blast!

I’m from the guvmint and I’m here to help.

thanksgiving.jpgCheck it out. The federal government is going to speed the flow of holiday travelers next week! Maybe you’re more optimistic than I am, but it’s just something about the government getting involved that typically results in a mess.

The Air Transport Association expects 27 million passengers during the 12 days surrounding Thanksgiving.

This is the worst year on record for aviation delays, and the White House is trying to ease congestion not just during the holidays - but for next summer’s busy travel season as well. ” We want to make sure next year does not duplicate what happened this year,” a White House official said.

I guess airline tickets must be less expensive for most folks. When I priced tickets for Thanksgiving break for Tieki Rae coming home they were well over $1000, many reaching $2000+. Needless to say, poor Tieki has to wait until Christmas break to come home. :(

Oh, and this little snippet:

President Bush is also expected to announce raising compensation for passengers who are bumped off an overbooked flight. The Transportation Department has been drafting proposed increases for passengers ranging from $200 to more than $600.

Additionally at New York’s JFK airport, one of the nation’s most delayed airports, the government is considering slightly altering landing and take-off patterns to speed up arrivals and departures.

First of all, I love it when Tieki gets bumped because it means a free trip. However, who’s going to pay for this increased compensation the White House is talking about?

I realize the federal government has to be involved in the aviation industry, but isn’t less really more? They think they can speed up travel and make the airlines run efficiently, when government itself runs so inefficiently? Just saying.

Are you traveling over Thanksgiving? Leave a comment regarding holiday plans. :) Don’t leave anything so specific that leftards and islamofascists can locate and harass you, but do share if you feel so inclined. For the first time ever (not counting last year when my husband was in the hospital) I have the entire week of Thanksgiving off. AND … I think we are just planning to stay home, relax, eat, and watch football! Doesn’t that sound spectacular? Of course, the only thing that could make it better would be if we were loaded and could afford those $1500 airline tickets to bring the Tiekster home. (Don’t tell her I called her that!)

More trouble for Northwest Airlines

Looks like Northwest Airlines might be making other peoples’ crap list besides Tieki Rae’s.

Hundreds of passengers experienced disruptions in their travel plans this weekend when Northwest Airlines canceled more than 200 flights.

During a summer season already filled with record delays and cancellations, the nation’s fifth-largest carrier cited pilot absenteeism for the problems.

Where in the world are the beloved pilots?

The pilots have said they were not playing hooky. They said their contract with Northwest limits their flying time to 90 hours per month and during this year’s busy travel season their time sheets are maxed-out.060303_pilots_vmed_1pwidec.jpg

I’m reading that as the contracts with Northwest that are limiting the pilots to 90 hours per month, not FAA regulations. Therefore, I’m limiting this entire problem to labor unions. Seriously, do you realize that 90 hours per month is barely over 20 hours per week?

What’s the labor union saying?

This weekend’s cancellations happened despite efforts by Northwest earlier this month to thin out its schedule so pilots would have enough hours. The union said the airline simply needs more pilots.

Heck, I didn’t realize it was possible to find a profession that actually works less hours than a dentist, but by golly I think I’ve done it! The entire article can be found here, but I also find the little ditty below to be a bit disturbing:

The Federal Aviation Administration said on-time performances in June were dismal. Last month had twice as many cancellations compared to the same time in 2006, the result of bad weather, more flights and an outdated air traffic control system.

Yikes! That’s something I think we should stay on the cutting edge of technology with.

And last but not least:

In a May 2007 survey by the University of Michigan, Americans ranked the airlines below the Internal Revenue Service in customer satisfaction.

I can guarantee you that Northwest has earned this honor. They should be so proud.

Sheikh delays plane over seating

britishairways.gif

Found this over at Doctor Bulldog’s place. Wouldn’t you just be livid if you were on this flight? From Reuters:

MILAN (Reuters) - A Qatar sheikh held up a British Airways flight at Milan’s Linate airport for nearly three hours after discovering three of his female relatives had been seated next to men they did not know.

When none of the other business class passengers agreed to swap seats, the sheikh, a member of Qatar’s ruling family, went to the pilot, who had already started the engine, to complain, an airport official said.

But the pilot ordered him and his traveling companions, the three women, two men, a cook and a servant, off the plane.

The London-bound flight took off nearly three hours behind schedule Thursday evening and around 50 of the 115 passengers missed connecting flights.

Traditions in the conservative Gulf Arab region bar women from mixing with unrelated men.

Then I guess these women should never have booked a ticket on the airline in the first place? Give me a freaking break! Of course, you know there will be litigation. Can you imagine missing your connection due to this moron? I get ticked just reading about it.

UPDATE: Angel is having another open trackback weekend :)
