Under the Senate rules, NO official business can be transacted in the Judiciary Committee unless there are eight members of the committee attending — including TWO Republicans. That means at least half of the Democrats have to attend; but more importantly, if at least six of the seven Republicans do NOT attend, no hearings can be held AT ALL!

Do you get it? Senate Republicans can FORCE the Democrats to take the full amount of time necessary to investigate and question Judge Sotomayor, instead of rushing her nomination through quickly. All they have to do is NOT SHOW UP.

But WE have to MAKE them do that!
