Regarding the Vietnam Memorial

Where we will Assemble on March 17

Tens of thousands of people will be gathering at Constitution Gardens at 12 noon near the Vietnam Memorial prior to the March on the Pentagon on Saturday, March 17. We will not be in the Vietnam Memorial and all speakers for amplified sound are turned away from the Memorial so as not to interfere with family members visiting the site. Constitution Gardens is the same location that ANSWER used for its mass anti-war rally on October 26, 2002. On March 17, 2007 we will leave Constitution Gardens and march on Constitution Ave. and then to Virginia on the way to the Pentagon.

The 58,000 U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam and the millions of Vietnamese who were killed, died in a criminal war. The connection between Vietnam and Iraq could not be more clear. Iraq is also a criminal war of aggression. The central issue today, just as it was in 1967, is to bring the war to an end.

Thousands of veterans and military families, including those who have lost loved ones in Iraq, will be in the front ranks of the March on the Pentagon. Some tiny pro-Bush groups who support the war in Iraq, and who normally mobilize about 25 people to hold signs when massive antiwar protests take place, are now callously trying to manipulate Vietnam veterans by spreading rumors that the March on the Pentagon will defile the Vietnam Memorial. This lie should be treated with the same contempt that people have for the other lies promoted by Bush and his followers to justify an illegal war of aggression: Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction; Iraq was responsible for the September 11 attacks; and that the U.S. occupation would be greeted as an act of liberation by the Iraqi people. Enough lies. Enough deceit!

The Group Rolling Thunder is doing their part too! I have a friend that is a part of this great group. They deserve a mention as well.

March On the Pentagon March 17, 2007 Washington, D.C.

On March 17, 2007 a group of anti-war protestors are planning to march to the Pentagon from Washington, D.C. The March 17th anti-war demonstration will assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C. and march to the Pentagon. In order to ensure that the Wall and other Memorials in the general area are not defaced, like what happened at the anti-war demonstration at the U.S. Capitol on January 27th. I am requesting that as many Rolling Thunder, Inc. chapters, members and supporters that can make it, meet at the Wall no later than 8:00 AM on the 17th. We do not want, nor will we tolerate a repeat of what happened at the U.S. Capitol. Rolling Thunder members be sure to wear your Rolling Thunder vests on the 17th. Show your support to our Troops, to those who sacrificed their lives in the past Wars and to protect our Memorials. Hope you can make it.

What is an anti-war protest without a few profound intelligent words from everyones fav. cindy sheehan?
H/T ladyjusa Member of Gathering of Eagles forum

Excerpt of her lunatic ramblings… More Reich-Wing Horse Pucky cindy sheehag

“the willing tools of the Republican killing machine, including Karl Rove, with whom they have formed an unholy alliance Move America Forward, are helping Rove whip a group called “Gathering of Eagles” into a frenzy over something that is not and was not ever going to occur. Okay, I am not sure that Karl Rove started this particular pile of horse pucky, but it sure has his stank all over it, so we are going to pretend for the sake of argument that it was Karl, or someone just like him.”

The so-called Gathering of Eagles says on their web site: “We will not allow them to spit on Iraqi Veterans again (itals mine).” First of all, it is not “Iraqi” veteran that is like saying “Vietnamese” veteran. It is “Iraq” veteran. Secondly, I have never spat on any veteran. I know no one who has, or who would spit on a veteran. Saying this is just pure propaganda horse pucky and the small minded people that are manipulating proud veterans with these deceptions should be ashamed of themselves. But we know they aren’t. They aren’t even ashamed of killing, torturing, or maiming innocent people. Why should they suddenly be ashamed of or disavow their tactics now? There tactics only become more contemptible as their positions become more indefensible and untenable.

What is the deal with her obsession with Karl Rove anyways? I think she has a crush on him. But oh she is not sure Rove has anything to do with the REAL Americans whom counter-protest anti-American protesters. It could be someone just like him…. Pray tell cindy who is your second choice? What a braying ass!

Why I’m marching on the Pentagon

“It’s not about U.S. troop reduction. We want an end to U.S. occupation of Iraq. The White House nor Congress will end the war. They didn’t end the war in Vietnam. The American people did, and it is we the people who must end this war. The coward will ask is it safe?…Vanity is it politically expedient or popular? But conscience will always ask, is it right? STOP THE WAR.”

Speaking of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation

Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation

Overview: America has witnessed the expansion of Islam from a few mosques in urban cities to today’s rural south and the Midwestern heartland, or as one poet put it, ‘from sea to shining sea.’ [What nerve! Quoting “America the Beautiful”

But then again…

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
[No mention of allah]
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Muslim schools, businesses, political organizations, associations, and institutions, inundate the landscape of America.

Despite Islam’s growth in America, there are certain groups in and outside of America that have long used bigoted distortions of Islam; portraying Muslims in America as seditious, dangerous, and totally incompatible with American life. Since the Sept. 11th tragedy, these same forces have intensified this vile propaganda with reckless abandonment. It is important that Muslims in America not be viewed as a ‘fifth column.’ Muslims must continue to build a grassroots movement that supports an all-encompassing approach of total integration into American Society for the express purpose of fulfilling the mandate of Allah (SWT) ‘to enjoin that which is good and forbid that which is bad,’ in a quest to make a better America for ourselves, our children, and all Americas.

Um.. excuse me.. but could you please fulfill your allah mandate elsewhere?

Which brings to mind an excellent post of Debbie’s over at Right Truth.

No Muslim Sympathy for Victims of Salt Lake City Mall Shooting

….In a 2005 article about Muslims in Nadeen Ahmed, the president of the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake and head of the IQRA organisation clearly stated that the infidels were expected to show due dhimmitude towards Muslims and know that there purpose on earth is to serve and accomodate their demands and needs.

Clearly stated? That’s rich! Here is my statement in so many words.

Daw’wah is not my cup of tea… being a Christian and all. And dhimmi is not for me, and it never will be! If an infidels purpose is to serve and accomodate your needs and demands, then it sure has taken you all a long time to get the ball rollin’. How long has it been, a few centuries give or take? Take your ball and go home. I don’t wanna play your game. It is AGAINST my religion. Besides a religion(?) has no value if it is spread by violence and force.

It is late and I’m going to lie down in my bed which is located in AMERICA. Which as far as I know has never been an islamic state. Wake up folks. These anti-American groups are out to do this country harm. Talk about your Axis of Evil… there is an Alliance of Evil forming right before our very eyes… The leftist anti-War crowd is playing right into the hands of those we are at war with. Get a clue!

Appeal For Courage If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please Sign this Appeal.

Vets4Victory Our mission is simple—to engage and change public sentiment to achieve victory in the war on terror. We will accomplish this by raising the soldier’s voice in the national debate on this war and provide accurate information from those that have had the most at stake—the soldier. Ours is a voice of experience, not academics or theory or postulation. We deserve to be listened to, not pandered to or pitied.

Without the commitment of the American people, our use of military power will falter in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our other instruments of national power, such as diplomatic or economic or information, will scarcely gain a foothold without solid commitment. Real victory will come when, as at times past, Americans hold to their ideals, rally as a nation, face the dangers threatening our way of life, and stand firm until victory is achieved. When our enemies see this commitment, they will lose their initiative and begin their march to defeat. We are the United States of America. We should never apologize for being who we are. Don’t know who Walker is but WE got the news that the Park Police would not let us have a permit through our Rolling Thunder Chapters.

See the update Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally, Inc tried to send out to mose of us before we left for THE WALL on our website and chapter websites: http://www.rollingthundermotorcyclerally.com/upevents.html

It says the EXACT same thing that Walker said on 10 March.

When my wife and I got to THE WALL, a few facts dawned on us. Walker got it WRONG and so did WE.

First, our Soldier is going on his third combat tour in Iraq, voluntarily and proudly so. He ain’t no griper or complainer. Hell he would stay for another ten more tours or until he was aced for his brothers and sisters over there. That’s a given!

Second, we don’t of course agree with everything the anti-war crown stands for, and that is a given BUT

It was NOT Cindy Sheehan or Jane Fonda who FIRST made POLITICAL HAY out of THE WALL Brother Walker so let’s get that factoid straignt now. Who did turn the Run to the Wall into a POLITICAL STATEMENT in 2004 without consulting or asking for a VOTE by Rolling Thunder membership?

That’s RIGHT our beloved President Artie Muller urged on by now Board Member Ted Sampley who headed Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry. That whole Run to the Wall had Bush/Cheney stench all over it to include the photo-ops.

Now bring us from 2004 to 2007 what three years later and four years our boy has been to war. My brothers and sisters who are really Veterans that is four tours in the NAM (4). Volumtary or not. Where is your heads. Why is the rest of the nation allowed to slide while WE use our National Guard and Regulars like Toy Soldiers.

You may call that Supporting the Troops, but in who’s name, some dude who skipped out of combat in Vietnam and another clown who like many college kids today HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH THEIR LIVES.

That brings us to Gathering of Eagles. It was a decent sounding patriotic name, but the anti-Iraiqnam war crowd had us outnumber three to one, and the District of Columbia Police gave THEM an escort and protected them from US.

Check out the darm photos of the march that the lamestream media took. We know you are not going to agree with all that my wife and I observed and came away with this weekend, but this you will agree with.

The media coverage was one sided in favor of the anti-Iraqinam War demonstrators. But seriously do a goodle image search plugging in “AP or Reuters - anti-war demonstration in Washington 2007? check out the photo of the police motorcade and riot control line IN FRONT of the anti-war crowd with US being pushed aside by the police so that THEY could proceed to the Pentagon.

That pissed the hell out of my wife and I. Until we got to thinkin when we got home and simmered down.

It was NOT the anti-Iraqinam War protestors who claimed to rally and organize AT THE WALL. It was NOT the anti-war groups that even claimed they would do damage to THE WALL. In fact, we have neighbors with kids over in Iraq who question if not oppose the war, and we know that given there is NO DRAFT leftist college professors and students are not spearheading the protest then who are.

Rolling Thunder (WE) did the same thing this weekend that our leaders did back in 2004. WE tried to turn THE WALL into a political circus, but this time not having the Run to the Wall as a cover, the National Park Service would not allow us to.

This will be the second time now that Rolling Thunder has pissed off some of its membership by our leaders making us look like fools to the nation and to our troops. Our military family will have nothing more to do with Rolling Blunder and intend to join other in contacting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation and National Park Service (NPS

We do however, strongly object the use of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as a backdrop and stage for political gain. And, we take it as an affront to our fallen comrade-in-arms and to their honor that the antiwar movement’s organizers and supporters would be so insensitive, inconsiderate, and boorish, as to even consider it as suitable location for political theater.

It is scared ground and should be considered as such.

This is a very emotional issue to many veterans and the potential for confrontation is very high. In the interest of the sensitivities of the veterans and that of public safety and good order, we ask the you to use your good offices and influence to convince antiwar movement’s organizers to reconsider their choice of assembly point, and relocate it to a less emotionally charged area.

Robin Owen (Person in charge of issuing event permits for the National Mall area) was contacted recently in regards to the anti-war protest that is scheduled to take place on March 17th at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, by Michael S. Golden, President/CEO Veterans Construction Inc. and he was assured of the following:

1.) There will be a 300 yard perimeter comprised of double snow fence barriers with an ample number mounted, foot police, riot reaction squad nearby, and intelligence personal on scene, to ensure that the conditions of the permit granted to the antiwar activists are not violated. E.G. the assembly point is in an appointed area on the eastern end of the grounds (Knoll) and they will not be allowed in the proximity of the wall. A Similar exclusion zone applies area and approaches from Constitution Ave. So net effect … no protesters within 300 yd’s.

2.) That ALL laws will be vigorously enforced and prosecuted in terms of any violence, vandalism,or, threat to public safety. This was stated emphatically.

3.) About an hour later, I received a phone call from Sgt, Booker of the Park Police saying he had been asked by Robin Owen to reiterate the policy and to reinforce her statements to me and answer any further questions I may have on the Park Police law enforcement polices.

Sgt. Booker stated even MORE emphatically that the Park Police consider the Wall as sacred ground, as we do, (As did Robin Owen) themselves, and that they WILL enforce any, and all laws, relevant to it’s integrity. And, any concerns we may have stemming from the non-enforcement of the law by the Capitol Police last weekend are not relevant to his Dept. They WILL arrest and prosecuted anyone who breaks the law.

4.) The Wall will be open for visiting to the general public as usual … if any of you care to do so on that day.

Thank you so much muldrake! You have put together some astounding evidence as to what some are capable of. The disrespect shown by those that vandalize monuments that honor our Soldiers sickens me. I had no idea that so many instances had occured. You have opened my eyes even wider. I hope the same goes for others that view this post.
BTW Since your comment contained several links, my spam catcher flagged it as spam. I rescued it.
Take care and thanks again. VH
