Few UK imams ‘come from Britain’

Only eight per cent of imams preaching in British mosques were born in the UK, BBC-commissioned research suggests.

The research, for BBC News and the BBC Asian Network, also suggests that only 6% of imams in Britain speak English as a first language. And almost 45% of imams have been in the UK for less than five years, the report adds. Some 66% of imams speak Urdu as a first language with 52% giving sermons in the language.

It also suggests that 6% of imams arrived in the UK in the past 12 months with 23% being in the UK for more than 10 years.”

Now that you have viewed those not so comforting statistics. Take a moment to read some excerpts of the accompanying commentary. Valid points are made. IMHO

I’m still to be convinced that moderate Islam can be reconciled with western culture. As long as traditional (or ‘true’) Islam is taught, we’re in for a lot more problems. There’s a war taking place between the moderates and extremists but the extremists seem to be winning. Partly because the moderates seem not to want to stand up for themselves. Either they are too cowardly or actually believe, to some extent, that the extremists have a point.

The problem is greater than just combating terrorism. We need to tackle this belief that traditional Islamic teaching is good and just. We need to stop focusing on just the terrorism, because by doing so, we are ignoring the fact that Islamic teaching is still stuck in the dark ages. However this change must, in part, happen from the inside, and as far as I can see, modern or more moderate Muslims are unwilling to play ball. Christianity was stuck in the dark ages for a long time but it turned a corner, I’m not sure Islam can do the same.

I am not at familiar with the Jewish Task Force. Over the top? What do you all think?

Isn’t that rich? Considering the special treatment that Muslims expect in the West. By shaheen’s logic Muslims that are unhappy living in the West, could leave it. Simple as that. But do they? No. Do they think they should? No.

Non Muslims never oppressed under Dhimmitude. Its just like a tax an Islamic government take for their security, they have all the rights a citizen must have, they can practice their religion.

What a relief! I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. /sarc

So now for the burning question. What should we do? What offensive tactics should we put into play? My friends Foehammer and Ronin have some thoughts they would like to share.

First up Foehammer on “How to peacefully remove Muslims from your own neighborhood”

Prejudice in action? Of course. But have we not been given not only a right but an obligation to exercise such prejudice when it is in the interests of our future and our safety and the sanctity of our nations? It’s either this or violence. So, what choice have we been given?

We all have a basic right to decide where we put our money, and if we collectively refuse to give any of it to the Muslim community then that community will eventually cease to exist OR it will be forced to reform itself and assimilate to our societies. So, here is the perfect chance for the so-called “moderate” Muslims to do something about their own backyards and not just give us all lip-service.

It’s either time for Muslims to change or to realize that they are no longer welcome and that they must move to greener pastures.

Now for Ronin’s offensive strategy.Ronin’s 12-Step Recovery Program

I originally wrote and posted this 12-step recovery program a few months back. I have made slight modifications and I am sure if something like this were implemented it would have to be translated into British English and not Southern American. All of these steps are a suggestion designed to empower the government and the Muslim populace to seek out the cancer that threatens them. Freedom is a great concept until you use it to tie your own hands while allowing those who threaten you to prosper. No country ever successfully defended itself by burying its head in the sand. Step up Brits if you must go down, go down like men and not sheep.

1. Admit you have a problem. Admit radical Islam is a problem and violence is done in its name. Admit terrorism will not magically go away on its own and doing nothing only encourages the radicals and endangers the public. Admit no UK based Muslim organization has the power to stop this on their own. Admit terror attacks in the name of Islam are increasing and radical Islam is thriving in the UK and the Government will respond. The best defense is a strong offense.

Read steps 2 - 12.

Are these proposals harsh?

Think long and hard folks.

Would the ends, justify the means?

Something has got to give. Would implementing these measures, be a damn sight better than giving in and giving up?

Are they a step to far? Or a step in the right direction?
Should we tippy-toe around the fact, that not all Muslims are radical? Or defend ourselves against radical Islam, because all radicals are indeed Muslim?

Is ’sensitivity’ more important than ’security’?

A line has been drawn in the proverbial sand.

Can we in good conscience, ignore that fact much longer?

It is a fine line we tread.

A fine line indeed…

Pakistan has finally taken the issue of radical islam seriously, and have laid siege to the “Red Mosque”. Lady V has been staying on top of the situation.

Islam wants more than a slice. Islam wants the whole pie.

Comment of heroyalwyness’ at Foehammer’s Anvil - There is one particular story last year in particular, posted at JihadWatch.org that haunts . . .

Not, in a crowded and impatient city like London that this was a surprise, but that in this instance that I was insulted by these people was a surprise. The eldest male in the group, dressed in the usual and ridiculous garb of mohammedans everywhere, looked directly at me amd said, in quite clear English, (and I quote verbatim) “Get out of our way infidel slave”.

Multiculturalism is a program for self-imposed dhimmitude. I have already pointed this out in stories I have posted about the absurd lengths to which Western Multiculturalists are willing to go to expunge our own culture out of an obsequious respect for Muslim “sensibilities.” The examples range from the trivial (removing a public sculpture of a pig in rural England, because Muslims consider the pig an “unclean” animal) to the ominous, such as Britain’s proposed law making it a crime to criticize someone else’s religion—essentially banning dissent against Islam.

“With cries of ‘God is great,’ bands of youths armed with whatever they could get hold of went on a rampage and forced the police to flee…. Within hours, the original cause of the incidents was forgotten and the issue jelled around a demand by the representatives of the rioters that the French police leave the ‘occupied territories.’… Some are even calling for the areas where Muslims form a majority of the population to be reorganized on the basis of the ‘millet’ system of the Ottoman Empire: each religious community (millet) would enjoy the right to organize its social, cultural and educational life in accordance with its religious beliefs. Then there is this….

The old ‘What’s Mine is Mine, and What’s Yours Is Mine‘ philosophy, seems to be the rule of thumb when it comes to islam.

After running his fingerprints through a new security system, Saudi police discovered that he was a Christian who had arrived in the country six months earlier to take a job as a truck driver in the city of Dammam. Kamanda had subsequently left his place of work and moved to Mecca.

“The Grand Mosque and the holy city are forbidden to non-Muslims,” Col. Suhail Matrafi, head of the department of Expatriates Affairs in Mecca, told the Saudi daily Arab News. “The new fingerprints system is very helpful and will help us a lot to discover the identity of a lot of criminals,” he said.

Similar restrictions apply to the Saudi city of Medina. In a section entitled, “Traveler’s Information,” the Web site of the Saudi Embassy in Washington states that,

“Mecca and Medina hold special religious significance and only persons of the Islamic faith are allowed entry.”

Highway signs at the entrance to Mecca also direct non-Muslims away from the city’s environs.

Would turn about be fair play? Or discrimination…? Heh…
