Hello Friends and Visitors,
As many of you know, I have been setting up this site, after having moved from WordPress.com. to my new and gracious host ConservaBlogs.com
I have received some e-mails asking why the move. Please allow me to explain, why I have packed up my blogging bag of tricks and moseyed on over to ConservaBlogs.
For one, if ConservaBlogs takes off as I expect it to, I will be thrilled to have gotten in on the ground floor. Well the second or third floor anyways. lol
Secondly, I did feel a bit suppressed at WordPress. You know the always looking over your shoulder feeling. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciated their free hosting, and they are not at all on the level of Google, as far as censorship is concerned. I never had any problems in that area. But at ConservaBlogs that is no longer in the back of my mind.
Last but not least, factoring in future connections to be made, and having the chance of being a part of a growing network tailored for conservative minded bloggers.
I thought why the hell not lol.
I let you all be privy to a newsletter, I have received from Eric Odom of ConservaBlogs
It should help you to better understand the site, his plans and the reasoning behind his putting it all together in the first place.
Future Plans
It’s easy for me to see the bigger picture because I live this stuff. In my mind I have a vision and a full idea of where I want to take ConservaBlogs.com, but a few recent e-mails have helped me understand that a lot of you do not. It makes sense, I just hadn’t really given it a whole lot of thought until now.
So here is my attempt at explaining the long term goals of our network. But first, a little bit of History.
Back in November I had a handful of blogs running on blogspot. At the time I was really enjoying the system and two of my blogs were bringing in 1,500+ visitors a day, which was helping keep my momentum strong.
Right around Thanksgiving both blogs completely vanished. working with Google was extremely frustrating as human interaction is virtually non-existant. Finally, I was able to get the blogs back online and it was explained that I had “objectional content”.
Now, these were both tech related blogs so it was fairly easy to narrow the “complaint” down to posts that I made on both blogs about an internet based documentary called “Blaming the Jews”.
After that I decided that having to choose between Wordpress.com, a free blog host that doesn’t allow you to make a few extra bucks from your blogging labor, and a Liberal company like Google just wasn’t good enough.
In December I took the plunge and decided it was time for a Conservative blog hosting site that offered WordPress blogs with full access free of charge.
At the time I figured it would take me at least a year to pull it all together and start offering it to the masses. Fortunately, it has only taken about seven months.
So here we are…
$700.00 and a lot of headaches later I finally have a site that is moving up in the search engines and is starting to pull together as a community.
I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and start looking forward. What’s next?
We’re going to be putting into play a lot of features that will be very useful as we grow. Tools such as image hosting galleries like “Flickr”, and Web 2.0 style scripts like “Digg.com” and “Wikipedia”. Yes, all of these will be in play by the end of 2007.
But the real mack daddy of it all is the community itself. I had a great phone conversation with Lorelle, the worlds greatest Wordpress guru, this morning and she consulted me on every aspect of what we’re doing. We’re going to follow her advice and work in a new Wordpress system called “WordpressMU”.
Wordpress MU will allow us to be one big community. It will make our site run just like Wordpress.com in that you can log into your control panel and be logged into the entire site… not just your own blog.
I hope to be able to unveil a beta phase of this system by the time we set up our booth at the Conservative Leadership Conference and offer free blogs to the entire political world (the side that can think, that is).
The full version of this will not be rolled out until December because of the time and money involved (and I’m a self employed conservative activist… meaning very little money), but we should be ready to rock by the end of the year.
To sum it up, you’re getting in on the ground floor of something that will eventually be a major political community, and a major player online.
Hopefully this helps you understand the direction we’re headed in. It’s going to be a lot of fun and a wild ride, so strap in, hold on, and get ready for the pedal to hit the metal.
Blog Hard,
Eric Odom

Another e-mail query, asked “What is the catch?”
Eric Odom - In regards to the “catch”, we no longer put BlogAdSwap banners on member blogs. Meaning, we no longer put anything on your blog outside of the footer links.
We do ask our bloggers to put up banners for CLC (www.clc07.com), but do not require it.
You’re free to make money and post about anything that comes to mind. We sensor nothing and pretty much stay out of your blogging life altogether.
The real catch is the conservative movement. Citizen Outreach is committed to advancing the movement and CB allows us to do that.
I may not be the world’s smartest woman, but I know I have made a good move.;)
That is pretty much it.
Thanks for listening.

Hi V,
Well, I never trusted Google either
For that matter, even Yahoo has some scary language in their advertising agreement.
We should be opening up next door to you very soon. Well, very soon after we decide on a more narrow topic, and a theme, and get new stat counter accounts, and figure out which plugins and widgets we need, and… I had forgotten how much work went into setting up our Conversations blog.
