Sheriff Won’t End Hot Line on Migrants

PHOENIX — The county sheriff said he won’t disconnect a hot line he created for people to report information about illegal immigrants that has been decried as promoting ethnic profiling.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio stressed Wednesday that deputies would investigate people only if authorities had probable cause.

The hot line began last Friday and has received about 300 messages, which include tips about family and friends, employment, day laborers, houses where smugglers drop illegal immigrants, and crank calls.

Some Latino advocacy groups will launch a hot line of their own to take tips from people who believe they’ve been unfairly reported to Arpaio’s hotline, said activist Mary Rose Wilcox, a Maricopa County supervisor.

Taking a cue from c.a.i.r. and select appeasing dems, I see… [roll eyes] Wondering if they will judge tipsters on “good faith” An undefinable term..

Yet another brilliant move by Sheriff Joe! Shouldn’t each and every jail apply this? If a jail houses illegal aliens, why in God’s green earth should illegal aliens be permitted to visit their illegal aliens friends, family or fellow gang bangers? The only problem I have with this idea, is that they should not be given a second chance. First time an illegal alien even tries to pay a visit to anyone in a jail, they should be arrested on the spot.

Sheriff to Bar Illegals from Visiting County Jail Inmates

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is developing system designed to keep illegal immigrants from visiting county jail inmates.

Sheriff’s deputies would do background checks on every one who comes for a jail visit.

“We will be looking at some type of procedure where we identify illegals coming into the jail. They won’t be able to come in.”

When someone comes to the jail to visit an inmate, they’re required to show ID. Arpaio says the background check will be completed before their next jail visit.

Those who can’t prove citizenship would be denied a second visit and could be arrested.

As well he should.

DeleteTheBorders of course is against any such thing. And have began the whine fest. They do not believe in borders, they think that illegal aliens should be able to come and go as they please. I ask who in the hell do they think they are?

Notice the “Food Not Bombs” text on the right. Directly underneath is an image of a Molotov cocktail labeled “unity”, being thrown at the US border fence?! These militant anarchists need to realize once and for all, that this country is not a free for all!

This hotline seems to indicate that the trend is moving away from going after criminals of any type and being able to get the deported if they are illegal to just going after undocumented immigrants. Since sheriff joe seems to think asking for citizenship papers from people for littering or spitting on the sidewalk is okay, and now he’s unveiling this hotline idea. I mean, obviously the cops nor ICE can just deport everyone who is here illegally, and i know one of the main reasons is lack of person-power, but i guess i’m unclear as to whether it is a crime for a person who is undocumented to just be here, or work here, etc., as far as whether someone who did not commit any other crime could be reported as undocumented and then arrested and deported. Of course, this sort of happens in raids and such, but it doesn’t seem that law enforcement can easily justify such a thing. Afterall, ICE raids are portrayed mostly as going after specific people who are wanted for various crimes. Perhaps this is a step in the direction of grabbing people for no other reason than that someone is suspected of being undocumented.

First of all, it is not a “wall of death”. It is OUR border! Prospective illegal aliens may die trying to cross OUR border. But they are committing an ILLEGAL act, so they can only blame themselves. Typical leftist attitude, blame the law and not the criminal. Secondly… the opinions of those whom reside in Mexico are not valid! If that is indeed what they are implying.

The majority of the Mayors and municipal Presidents have declared themselves AGAINST the WALL of Death because it serves to DIVIDE both countries and both Peoples that should have a united and free border.

Where is their proof? And excuse the hell out of me, when do the voices of Mexican municipal Presidents count for anything OUTSIDE of their own jurisdiction???

The Border Social Forum in its Final Declaration called for organizing of a campaign against the Wall of Death and demands a STOP to all construction and to tear down what’s constructed already.

Who died and made them King, I ask?

The Continental Social Assembly in its meeting of May 2007 in Havana, Cuba adopted the calling for a Continental Campaign of Actions against the Wall of Death on the 11-12-13 of October, 2007

The VI Hemispheric Encounter against the FTA’s and for the Peoples’ Integration of the Americas took place in Havana, Cuba in May 2007 and the assembly adopted the resolution calling for actions against the Wall of Death in its final declaration.
