Tongue Tied Redux

February 27th, 2008· Posted by Velvet Hammer · 2 Comments ·

This is a re-print of the original. With a few tweaks here and there.

I decided to do so once I learned of Barack Obama’s “Plan to Strengthen Civil Rights“.
For instance here are two of his objectives that I find most troubling.

Expand Hate Crimes Statutes

Obama will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice’s Criminal Section.

End Racial Profiling

Obama will ban racial profiling by federal law enforcement agencies and provide federal incentives to state and local police departments to prohibit the practice.

Now before anyone becomes all hot under the collar, hear me out.

R estriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us. - William Orville Douglas
American supreme court justice (1898 - 1980)

Feeling a bit tongue tied as of late?

Everything you wanted to know, (but were afraid to ask).

Political Correctness: The Scourge of Our Times

Does anyone know the origins of Political Correctness? Who originally developed it and what was its purpose?

I looked it up. It was developed at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, Germany, which was founded in 1923 and came to be known as the “Frankfurt School.” It was a group of thinkers who pulled together to find a solution to the biggest problem facing the implementers of communism in Russia.

The problem? Why wasn’t communism spreading?

Their answer? Because Western Civilization was in its way.

What was the problem with Western Civilization? Its belief in the individual, that an individual could develop valid ideas. At the root of communism was the theory that all valid ideas come from the effect of the social group of the masses. The individual is nothing.

And they believed that the only way for communism to advance was to help (or force, if necessary) Western Civilization to destroy itself. How to do that? Undermine its foundations by chipping away at the rights of those annoying individuals.

One way to do that? Change their speech and thought patterns by spreading the idea that vocalizing your beliefs is disrespectful to others and must be avoided to make up for past inequities and injustices.

And call it something that sounds positive: “Political Correctness.”

Inspired by the brand new communist technique, Mao, in the 1930s, wrote an article on the “correct” handling of contradictions among the people. “Sensitive training” – sound familiar? – and speech codes were born.

In 1935, after Hitler came to power, the Frankfurt School moved to New York City, where they continued their work by translating Marxism from economic to cultural terms using Sigmund Freud’s psychological conditioning mechanisms to get Americans to buy into Political Correctness. In 1941, they moved to California to spread their wings.

But Political Correctness remains just what it was intended to be: a sophisticated and dangerous form of censorship and oppression, imposed upon the citizenry with the ultimate goal of manipulating, brainwashing and destroying our society.

Fighting the political correctness plague…

All citizens who cherish liberty must reject the scourge of Political Correctness. Freedom of speech must be preserved in America if we are to continue to be free.

The Origins of Political Correctness

Excerpts:

If we compare the basic tenets of Political Correctness with classical Marxism the parallels are very obvious.

First of all, both are totalitarian ideologies. The totalitarian nature of Political Correctness is revealed nowhere more clearly than on college campuses, many of which at this point are small ivy covered North Koreas, where the student or faculty member who dares to cross any of the lines set up by the gender feminist or the homosexual-rights activists, or the local black or Hispanic group, or any of the other sainted “victims” groups that PC revolves around, quickly find themselves in judicial trouble. Within the small legal system of the college, they face formal charges – some star-chamber proceeding – and punishment. That is a little look into the future that Political Correctness intends for the nation as a whole.

…..In conclusion, America today is in the throws of the greatest and direst transformation in its history. We are becoming an ideological state, a country with an official state ideology enforced by the power of the state. In “hate crimes” we now have people serving jail sentences for political thoughts. And the Congress is now moving to expand that category ever further. Affirmative action is part of it. The terror against anyone who dissents from Political Correctness on campus is part of it. It’s exactly what we have seen happen in Russia, in Germany, in Italy, in China, and now it’s coming here. And we don’t recognize it because we call it Political Correctness and laugh it off. My message today is that it’s not funny, it’s here, it’s growing and it will eventually destroy, as it seeks to destroy, everything that we have ever defined as our freedom and our culture.

An outstanding chart and tons of information up next. Link after link, to articles defining, detailing and discussing political correctness. Well worth your time, I can assure you.

Political correctness dangers

Excerpt

Introduction: Before discussing political correctness, we must first have an understanding of what it is and how it influences policy making; for this reason, I have created the following political-correctness model:

Even though many of the ideals behind political correctness are based on not so bad, utopian intent, utopia is never achieved. That is, for every politically-correct, utopian law or rule that is introduced into society, a more serious, adverse side effect is created. For example, many universities do not permit professors to openly discuss issues relating to race, gender, or the gay community, etc, because they don’t want to offend anyone (a state of utopia); however, by doing so, they restrict freedom of speech and educational development (a very damaging side effect far worse than the utopian benefits).

How democracy is failing us (World)

Excerpt

As mainstream votes have either been consumed by the center left or center right, unscrupulous politicians (typically the left) start looking at marginal groups to gain more votes. People within these marginal groups may be existing voters, non-voters, or first-time voters. It should be noted that approximately 50% of eligible Americans don’t vote, and I would suggest most of them would be from marginal groups as they are not represented in mainstream politics. Hence, there are millions of new votes up for the taking, and unscrupulous politicians know this.

In order to sell these marginal groups/ideals to the mainstream, they start politicizing it as the ‘good and right thing to do’ whether it is good or not. To imbed these new groups/ideals they employ political-correctness-marketing strategies. They position the marginal group as the victimized and the majority as the victimizers. As a result, people who support a new group/ideal are always the ‘good,’ and rational people who oppose it are always the big bad ‘bigots.’

I feel as if those who fight against racism and discrimination in this Country are the ones, whom keep it a living breathing entity. After all why should they wish for racism/discrimination to end? When there is a civil rights boom in this country, thanks to the A.C.L.U., C.A.I.R, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the N.A.A.C.P etc. The more they push the more America gives in. And the more control “some” gain while others lose their freedom of speech. It is getting to where, you can’t say anything. Unless you are one of the select few ‘victims’, or a leftie liberal bullshit artist. No need to apply. For it is an exclusive club, not just ‘anyone’ can become a member.

Now how is that for discriminatory?

Sticks and stones will break my bones. But words will never hurt me.

I don’t know just a thought…
