Ironic Surrealism II

I grew up in the Catholic Church and this man is not a priest in my eyes. Priests do not rant, scream and spit. They hold solemn respectful masses. Pfleger makes me ill.

“I know he (Wright) is a good man, he is a loyal American and a prophetic teacher of the Gospel. And I’m not gonna allow people to call him a racist, an anti-American or a bigot. Nor Louis Farrakhan cause neither of them are.”

Does he care really? Or is he pimping himself? One point five million dollars is a lot of money. What better way to get noticed than to hitch a ride on the coat tails of the Rev Wright controversy?

Have I mentioned it is an African American Catholic Church? Not that there is anything wrong with that. There are many lovely African-American churches in this country. But when one is headed by a leftist race baiting priest cut from the same cloth as the despicable Rev Wright, then I have a problem with it. Then to add salt to the wound, by defending Farrakhan that is beyond the pale.

The ranks of Sen. Barack Obama’s supporters in his bid to become president of the United States have been found to include a white priest of a mostly black church who has links to Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan and an apparently low level of tolerance for the 2nd Amendment.

Pfleger currently is listed on Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign website as being one of the “people of faith” who endorse Obama’s campaign.

The endorsement includes a photo of Pfleger and a testimonial in which Pfleger compares Obama to Robert F. Kennedy, “I haven’t heard anyone since Robert F. Kennedy who is causing such an emotional awakening to the political possibilities.”

According to the Chicago Tribune, Pfleger gave Obama political contributions of $1,500 between 1995 and 2001, including $200 in April 2001, about three months after Obama announced $225,000 in grants to St. Sabina programs.

The newspaper quoted Pfleger as saying he made those donations personally, not on behalf of the church or to win grants.

Another newspaper article, this one published on July 2007 in the Christian Science Monitor, quoted Pfleger as saying he has known Obama for more than 20 years since 1985 when Obama moved to Chicago “for a job organizing impoverished South Side residents in campaigns for jobs, schools, and housing.”

According to a CBS local Chicago television report dated on May 25, 2007, Farrakhan returned to St. Sabina following serious surgery for cancer, to give an hour-long fiery speech to a packed congregation.

“The 73-year-old Farrakhan’s return to the church he visited many times before, seemingly as animated and energetic as ever, fulfilled a promise he’d made to its pastor, Father Michael Pfleger,” according to the story written by CBS reporter Jay Levine.

The CBS story included a video clip of Farrakhan’s speech to the church in which Pfleger can be seen accompanying Farrakhan into the church and seated behind Farrakhan as he gave his speech from the pulpit.

Several examples of Pfleger’s radical street protest politics also are documented fully and available for easy reference on the Internet.

It was on May 29, 2007, when Pfleger joined Jesse Jackson and his Organization Operation Push in a protest in front of Chuck’s Gun Shop in the Chicago suburb of Riverdale, in opposition to U.S. citizens’ Second Amendment rights to bear arms.

According to TheCapitalFaxBlog.com, a Chicago blog, Pfleger repeatedly used the word “snuff” in describing treatment for gun industry members or lawmakers who would oppose gun control legislation.

He (Obama) said he was a progressive and a pragmatist

He has openly stated he is a liberal fascist. His use of the two terms progressive and pragmatist hold roots deep into fascism. Pragmatist in this sense is not a good thing. Pragmatism in his sense of the word is a form of relativism. The word Pragmatist was made up by Mussolini. (Liberal Fascism, Jonah Goldberg, pg. 54). Obama is not using this descriptor in a conventional connotation of himself!

He is already calling for the ‘quiet riot,’ again this is a tactic to strike terror into the public. Terror is a tool of fascism to achieve the totalitarian state.

on Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright’s Visit to the Church on March 28, 2008

On Friday, March 28, 2008, I invited Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. to Saint Sabina’s African American Speaking Series, where Dr. Maya Angelou was the guest speaker. I invited Dr. Wright because he is a friend, mentor and hero of mine and because he is someone for whom I have great respect. I also invited him to feel and see the great love and respect people have for him.

As I said on Friday, Dr. Wright is one of the great biblical scholars of our country and the best of preachers in the prophetic tradition. Dr. Wright has been shamefully demonized by 30 second sound bites that have tried to re-define him into someone other than who he is.

I believe the attacks on Dr. Wright are two-fold.

As a back door entrance to attack and try and weaken Senator Barack Obama.

To stifle the freedom of prophetic preaching in the church. I think he means pathetic. Must of been a typo. lol

Both of these are unacceptable! I stand with Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. as a friend and as a preacher who I respect.

Well lookie what we have here, Pfleger appears on Obama’s People of Faith page. Hmm.. Obama thinks Pfleger is a man of faith, just like Wright. His view on faith is so skewed. As is theirs!

A Visit to Obama’s Chicago Church

The Trinity United Church of Christ vibrated with cheers throughout the four-hour Good Friday service. When the last of seven guest preachers, Rev. Rudolph McKissick, Jr. unleashed his anger against the recent media storm that catapulted Trinity to global notoriety, the crowd rose to their feet. McKissick thundered: “Fox News, CNN, ABC … they’re so stupid that they don’t even know the word ‘damn’ is not a profanity but a Hebraic proclivity, meaning God’s curse will fall on all those who defy his love. They know not with whom they are messing. Jeremiah Wright might have retired in body, but just like Jesus, he’s coming back more powerful than ever! Damn you! Damn anyone who messes with the anointed.” At that, a TUCC member leaned over and said to TIME with a sigh, “Well, I guess that one’s on the record.”

African-American rappers that glamorize violence and sexist barbs in the name of “keeping it real” were the subject of vitriolic tirades, too. “Why, they’re no better than prosperity-pimping preachers!” He and Wright should know. They sing that tune. shouted Father Michael Pfleger, a popular white Catholic priest, whose messages have raised eyebrows among his own Church’s leaders.

Good Friday marks the holiest day of the year for many African-American Christians, according to Dwight Hopkins, a theologian at University of Chicago’s Divinity School. The “strange fruit” that swung from Southern trees bears striking resemblance to Roman crucifixion.

I’ll not say a word.

Trinity’s own Roman-like architecture is unfamiliar for a church, which might explain why some outsiders found it cultish and strange. The congregation meets in a theater-in-the round, designed after secular buildings like the Parthenon and the U.S. Congress. Stained-glass windows flanking the entrance feature images of African-American leaders, not saints: W.E.B. Du Bois, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

There is also a glass sculpture of a man resembling Obama. Above it, light streams through block-lettered words: “VOTE. We need YOU.” For now at least, Trinity may offer the only refuge for South Siders longing to experience the blessing of democracy.
