Why I want Cynthia Lummis to WIN

I know you’re out there. You’re reading this blog and saying, OK, so Mark Gordon scares the daylights out of you and you want him nowhere near being the Republican nominee; who do you want to win???

Well, if you simply check my Endorsed Candidate’s listing, you’ll find my candidate is Cynthia Lummis. I have a few different reasons that I like her.

She’s consistent. People know where Cynthia Lummis is coming from because in her various levels of elected service to the state, she hasn’t wavered. Her donation record is solidly Republican. For the naysayers that want to bring up her marriage to a Democrat that she met and served with in the State Legislature, talk to others that served with them and they will tell you that he never was all that great of a Democrat. Also, he is now a Republican and his federal donation record shows only one donation. It went to Mitt Romney’s Presidential campaign.

She has a political resume. I know, there’s something appealing about a potential congressman that is coming from outside the realm of politics, but with the political culture we have today, you need some kind of foundation that the voters can look at you and say “That person knows what they’re doing and when they get to D.C., they’ll have no problem catching on.”

Cynthia Lummis spent 14 years in the Wyoming State Legislature and missed only five votes for the purpose of giving birth to her daughter. She is the only candidate that has legislative experience.

She served eight years as Wyoming State Treasurer and in that time, she made investment decisions for the State that protected Wyoming residents against a State income tax. The Governor was mad about that. Look what got him reelected: a massive budget surplus made by a wise investment choice by Cynthia Lummis, whom he sorely disagreed with.

Last summer, she was one of three finalists to fill the vaccated Senate seat of the late Sen. Craig Thomas.

By contrast, Mark Gordon has only recently been consistent in giving to Republicans. I thnk the only reason that he regrets his donation to Gary Trauner is because the Wilson Democrat decided to continue his 2006 campaign.

Mark Gordon has no legislative experience. He hasn’t been one of the “top five” State officers. He did chair the Environemntal Quality Council, per the appointment by Governor Freudenthal. As chairman of the EQC, he cast a crucial deciding vote that allowed the DEQ to regulate water flows down streams even though it meets water quality standards. The governor didn’t like that decision either, and fortunately had enough sense to not approve the ruling and to not reappoint Mr. Gordon when his term expired. Additionaly, a judge had enough common sense to throw the lawsuit out.

Mark Gordon has noted that if he loses, he will support the Republican who wins the Wyoming Congressional Primary on August 19.  Well then, let’s put him to the test. Get out there and vote for Cynthia Lummis. Get your friends to vote for Cynthia Lummis. Get your friends to get their friends to vote for Cynthia Lummis. I look forward to seeing what message he sends to the Democrats

Amen! There is no other professional field where anybody considers a lack of experience a good thing! Sometimes a new face can be refreshing, but there is more to the job than showing up and voting, and we need somebody with a proven record of success.
