Wyoming Has A (Presidential) Candidate!

Not that I’d vote for him. Nor am I that thrilled to see he is trying for office once again, although he does epitomize the “every Democrat is corrupt” line of thought…
Yes, he’s Wyoming’s (favorite?) non-winner that likes to run, even though there are questions about his qualifications. He just might be the biggest non-story of the year (again), but this makes two consecutive posts in which I have said nothing about Yellowstone.
Politics1 has some commentary on the Hamburg ‘08 presidential bid:
Perennial candidate Al Hamburg, 76, has to date lost 17 consecutive bids for President and for Governor, US Senate and Congress. He proudly described himself in 2004 as the “Very Independent UNPOPULAR Candidate” — unpopular, he explains, because the special
interests and bureaucrats hate him (well, that … and maybe also because of the Nazi helmet he wore in his 2004 campaign photo). “I make more people mad than I make want to vote for me,” he added. A house painter by trade, Hamburg spent nearly twenty years in the Army — serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He has run for state office repeatedly — at various times — as a Democrat, an Independent, and as a member of the now-defunct New Alliance Party. Hamburg also made news in the 1980s when he sued a woman for breach of contract involving a car he sold to her. In the lawsuit, he said the woman agreed to have sex with him fifty times in exchange for the car — but that she stopped performing her end of the deal after 33 times. Claiming to be a homeless veteran, Hamburg suddenly popped-up in Nebraska in 2000 — declaring the state as his new residency — and filed as a candidate there for US Senator in the Democratic primary. Hamburg then quickly moved back to Wyoming and has run for office again there several times since then. No website yet.
Project Vote Smart has a listing of all the candidacies “Big Al” has sought:
Candidate, Governor of Wyoming, 1988, 2006
Candidate, United States President, 2000, 2004
Candidate, United States House of Representatives, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 2004
Candidate, Nebraska, United States Senate, 2000, 2002
Candidate, United States Senate, Wyoming, 1990
Candidate, United States Congress, Wyoming, 1986
Fresh Intelligence had quite the Democratically-appealing introduction for Hamburg:
Attention drunks, Jews, Mexicans, retards, bullies, and millionaires: You’re all screwed if presidential candidate Albert “Big Al” Hamburg succeeds in his bid for the White House next year.
Any remaining Democrats who somehow fall outside of these targeted demographics, however, may find themselves intrigued by this decorated war hero who would pull U.S. troops out of Iraq while renewing the national focus on liberal causes such as cop-beating, fornicating, and stopping “school bullying of litler [sic] kids.”
Big Al’s platform, which includes mandatory sterilization of drunks, illegal aliens, and the mentally retarded, a heavy dose of Jew-blaming, and the seizure of all incomes over $1 million, is complemented by considerable campaign experience (he’s been running for one office or another since 1972) and a distinct fighting man spirit (his son reports that the Korean War vet had to re-enlist for Vietnam under his brother’s name because he’d “beat up some cops”).
The article notes that the campaign is not likely to move very far beyond the Torrington area, Hamburg’s home and base of operations. Maybe the DNC could be generous with their money and have him in Denver next August. Of course, why should the national party foot the entire bill? Perhaps Wyoming’s own Governor could invite Mr. Hamburg to fly down with him.

Scott, this is absolutely hilarious! With any luck, Mr. Luckett will read this post and ask the Governor if big Al can hitch a ride to Denver with him.

Perhaps we should start lobbying the Wyo. Democrat(ic) Party and the Governor himself.
