Rep. Cubin Helps Uphold SCHIP Veto
Oct 19th 2007ScottAmerican History & Politics & Wyoming & Yellowstone East Gate & conservatism & elections & multiple use & socialized healthcare & worthwhile reads
OK, so Rep. Cubin has missed a number of votes lately, and a number of people have been vocal in their critique, justified or not.
I’d like to ask you critics, how many of you thought to write Rep. Cubin and thank her for her recent votes?
I have a few points to discuss.
Fist, I wanted to tell you that it is great to hear you were able to vote in favor of upholding the President’s veto on the SCHIP expansion. No doubt yu saw the dangers of the baby step to socialized healthcare for all in the legislation. Thank you for taking a conservative stand on this issue.
Second, thank you for the work you are doing in regard to the Yellowstone winter “non-use” plan, specifically on the potential closure of the East Gate. I am a typical Codyite that cannot believe how deaf Suzanne Lewis and others in the NPS have been on this issue. Also, I had the opportunity to meet your colleague from southern California, Rep. Duncan Hunter, when he was in Riverton for the WYGOP Presidential forum. State Sen. Eli Bebout asked Sen. Brownback (R-KS) about multiple use in the forum Q & A. I thanked him afterwards for his question while he was standing near Rep. Hunter and he (Sen. Bebout) went to bat and told Rep. Hunter about the East Gate issue. I was thrilled to hear that he was already working with you on the issue. In addition to everything else he said, he won my support for the GOP nomination.
Third, like I said earlier, it is good to have you back voting again. I know that times lately have been very hard on you and your family.I do trust that you and your husband are recovering well.
No doubt you are aware that there is a lot of mud being slung about back here regarding your voting attendance. I appreciate the love you have for Wyoming ad the love yu have for your family. I know that right now your task is a difficult one in trying to strike a difficult balance between your congressional work and family life and I certainly don’t envy the hard choices you’ve had to make this term alone.
I know that in the weeks ahead, you will have more deciding to do regarding seeking another term. I’m not here to tell you run or don’t run. I’ll leave that to you and your husband, and trust that the decision you make, whatever it is, is the best one for you, your husband, and Wyoming. I do want you to know that I’ll be praying for you as you weigh your options regarding another term. If you do decide to run again, I wish you the best in your campaign, and if you decide against another term, may a stellar conservative rise to stand in the gap.
Thank you for your service to the people of Wyoming.
All I aks is that you give credit where it’s due. If you’re going to harp on her indirectly through letters to the editor and online forums and blogs, for missing votes, the least you could do is give her credit (directly and indirectly) for voting on an important vote.

Lock-step Cubin. What a crock! She couldn’t think for herself if her life depended on it. I have nothing against Wyoming sending a republican to D.C. You can act to fight Trauner all you want. I’m sure after the past seven years some of you have fogotten this is a democracy? I’m appauled however, that you continually ship this ignoramous back to represent us time and time again. At long last my fellow Wyomingites, have you no sense of reason?

Actually, this is more of a democratic-republic. But anyway, yes, we get to choose our Representative, and for the past several years, that choice has been Barbara Cubin. Maybe it will be different this time, maybe not, but I really have reservations about Trauner being a good choice for Wyoming. And last I checked, it has been the choice of Rep. Cubin to be at her husband’s side when she has missed votes.
