Who Runs the Gov’s Mansion Anyway?

I have I’ve been meaning to post on this topic for a while. At first, I was impressed that our Governor with a D behind his name was basically standing up to his party and telling them they’d have to do more than convene in the West to get his attention:
CHEYENNE, WY (2007-12-06) Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal says he’s looking for a way to avoid going to the Democratic National Convention next summer in Denver.
Freudenthal is one of about 800 superdelegates from around the country heading to the Democratic Convention next August. Being a superdelegate means he’s free to back any candidate for his party’s
nomination, unlike the thousands of delegates who must vote in accord with the results of state caucuses and elections. But Freudenthal tells The Associated Press this week that he doesn’t like any of the current crop of residential candidates - Democrat or Republican. He says none of them has addressed important issues facing the West.
There you go Gov! Show the media how unified the Democrat party is not!!! I have to admit I am surprised that Gov. Dave isn’t leaning toward his fellow Democrat governor two states south. But alas, our ever-more apparent liberal Governor does not even like him.
Second thought I had is if the Governor is a “super delegate” that can vote as he so chooses, regardless of caucai and conventions, why does he not pledge to go to the Mile High City and vote for himself? Surely he must like where he stands on the Western issues that are important to him. Perhaps he’s still holding out for a shot at one of the seats in D.C. that he doesn’t want.
So, that was the talk of the state. Then by the end of the week, the Governor’s Mansion spoke again:
Gov. Dave Freudenthal is planning to go to next year’s Democratic National Convention after all.
The convention will be just 100 miles down the road in Denver. But Freudenthal, a popular Democratic governor in a mostly Republican state, told The Associated Press last week that he was “working hard” to find a reason not to go. He said none of the current presidential candidates, Democrat or Republican, appealed to him because they haven’t talked about issues important to the West.
On Wednesday, the governor said his wife, Nancy, read the AP story and clarified the family’s plans for the convention.
“I heard from a couple of my daughters, as well as my wife, that I was planning to go to the convention,” he said. “I just wasn’t aware of that at the time.”
Freudenthal skipped the 2004 convention in Boston, even though — as governor — he was an automatic superdelegate who had a vote. The only Democratic convention he has attended was San Francisco in 1984.
Is it just me, or does this report seem to take a jab at our “beloved” Governor? I was planning to not attend, then my wife and daughters saw the paper and corrected me on the matter.
The Governor has let me down once again. Just who’s running the mansion in Chey-town anyway? To me, it seems too reminiscent of “the previous administration” in D.C.
