Sen. Enzi Offers Ideas on Healthcare

Once again it’s an election year, so it must be time to talk about healthcare! I have to admit that I’m a little sick by the continued rhetoric from the Democrat side of the aisle about healthcare (translated: insurance) for everyone. Let’s be real for a moment: no hospital is going to turn you away severely wounded if they find out you have no insurance and little income. I’m sure someone will want to comment about how it happened to them, or a friend,  or loved one, but if it is the case that it happened, I’d tend to think that’s the exception, not the rule.

I do believe in having insurance, but I do believe that our sue-at-the-drop-of-a-hat society has caused a lot of problems for people acquiring it. Another issue that must be dealt with is the over-regulation of the health insurance industry (you must cover treatment and medication for chest colds resulting from walking in the rain and getting struck by lightning at 3:17 local time, regardless of the insured’s likelihood of contracting such conditions).Yes, I’m going to use that evil word and say that a little deregulation, perhaps a lot of deregulation, would help out the insurance industry.

Well, Wyoming senior Republican Sen. Mike Enzi, the Senate’s only CPA, sees a mess in the insurance industry too, and he spent last week traveling Wyoming to tell Wyomingites about his ideas to fix the health insurance problems we face. Check the NRSC Blog for details.
