Some things just don’t get a lot of coverage until well after the fact. Such is the case with this story. I just heard it the other day and figured, you, my loyal readers, would enjoy reading it.
Back when Bill Clinton was visiting Wyoming on a pre-caucus campaign stop for his wife, he did his normal routine and took a morning jog. The trail he jogged along ran alongside a river. As he jogged, he started looking about, taking in the scenery and soon lost track of the trail and jogged right of into the river. He got caught in a current and got carried down stream. He began to holler for help.
Nearby were three boys that just happened to have some rope. They heard a man calling for help from the river. They ran over, threw the rope out to him, and managed to bring him back to dry ground, and were stunned to learn they had just rescued a former President.
Mr. Clinton thanked the boys, and told them that he wanted to reward them for their heroic efforts. Anything they wanted, he would get for them.
The first boy said “I really would like to have a new rifle to go wolf hunting with after the wolves get delisted.”
“OK; a new rifle. No problem.”
The second boy said “My parents and I used to go snowmobiling in Yellowstone every winter, but ever since they made us have a four stroke engine, we haven’t been able to. All we have is a two stroke engine. So I’d really like a new four stroke engine snowmobile.”
“Four stroke engine snowmobile; no problem.”
The former President noticed the third boy was kinda shy about wanting anything, and reminded him that anything he wanted, he could get, no questions asked.
“Well,” he said, “I want a pre-paid funeral plan, complete with casket, tombstone, plot and police escort for the procession.”
“A pre-paid funeral plan?!?!? But you’re so young, with so many years ahead of you. Why a pre-paid fueral plan?”
“Because when I get home, and my dad finds out what I did today, he’s gonna kill me.”
