Is McCain Going for the GOP Vote?

It’s not much of secret that I’m not much of a McCain fan. There are plenty of us that aren’t. But when he gets it right, he gets it right (or at least he stumbles onto it).
Almost as if he were practicing to be President, he called on Congress to do something to stimulate the economy.
I was shocked and never thought I’d see the day of crediting the senior Senator of Arizona with these words, but here they are:
In the longer-term, the certain Republican presidential nominee said he would double the tax exemption for dependent children and offer people the option of choosing a simpler tax system.
“We know from experience that no serious reform of the current tax code will come out of Congress, so now it is time to turn the decision over to the people,” McCain said in a sweeping economic speech at Carnegie Mellon University a week before Pennsylvania’s primaries.
To help people weather the downturn immediately, McCain urged Congress to institute a “gas-tax holiday” by suspending the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Yes, that’s what he talked about it. I thought for sure when I heard it on the radio this morning, the reporter had mis-spoke about who was speaking, but then Rush even picked up on it. Like Rush, I want this in a signed and notarized pledge. I’m not coming out for McCain at this point in time. I am firmly against either potential Democrat nominee-in-waiting, and there is still that weird feeling I get in my stomach when I enter the thought of potentially voting for McCain. Of course, it could be the pineapple-topped pizza I ate this afternoon, too. At any rate, I’ve loved the idea of a gas tax holiday as it would provide immediate savings at the pump.
To be honest and open, I’m somewhere in between filling in McCain’s oval and writing in the nominee for the Constitution Party. I’m receiving quite the lobby effort that my enthusiasm and positive upbeat attitude are great assets for The Party. We’ll see how things play out down the road, but for now you can quote me when I say that I am positively and enthusiastically against Obama and/or Clinton. Who am I for, you ask? I am positively and enthusiastically for Cynthia Lummis and John Barrasso. Rah-Rah!!!
Now if we can just get Sen. McCain to start talking about drilling in ANWR as a means of energy independence, cutting income taxes, repealing legislation that attacks the First Amendment, restoring local control of the education system, etc…
