What Will Sen. Enzi Do?

Inquiring minds want to know, especially inquiring Republican minds! Reporters have been camping outside of Sen. Enzi’s D.C. office trying to get some inkling of information about his electoral intentions, but so far he has given them no clues, other than he will announce his decision (whatever it is) in Wyoming.
A call to any of Sen. Enzi’s Wyoming offices will get you no further. Well, get ready for the big news. Sen. Enzi is announcing his plans Saturday, April 26 in Gillette, WY. An ice cream social with root beer floats will be hosted by Sen. and Mrs. Enzi after the announcement.
Now everyone has their insights to what the Senior Senator from Wyoming will do. Some are saying because he has less than half the cash on hand as Sen. Barrasso does, he’s calling it quits next January. Add to that his frustration with being a CPA (the only one in the U.S. Senate) and not getting the recognition from the party with a placement on the finance committee, and the speculation leans more toward a retirement announcement. Also, he has no campaign website up and running, while Sen. Barrasso does.
However, Wyoming tends to not be a long-campaign state. Additionally, as of yet, no Republican has expressed interest in seeking to succeed or compete against Sen. Enzi in the August Primary. Two Democrats are vying for the chance to succeed him in the November General Election. People that are thinking Sen. Enzi will announce a reelection point to a statement he made in February:
I’ll rise to any challenge - whether it’s against the president, the head of my party or anyone from the other party. And I’m more than ready - and looking forward - to the challenges to come.
Because unless people think Washington is fixed and running well, I think there’s still a lot of work to do. And, with Wyoming’s blessing, I’ll continue doing my very best for Wyoming people.
The only thing we do know is that we don’t know. So, here’s my thought/prediction (which I’ve had a pretty good streak of accurate predictions lately). Given the “Washington vs. Wyoming” politics, plus Sen. Barrasso (who has done an extraordinary job in his short time in the Senate so far) still being fairly new to the scene in Washington, as well as a guaranteed new Representative in the House, I predict Sen. Enzi is going to announce on Saturday his intention to seek the third term.
